Yes, THE Aries from Scarface's Album.... Queen Aries, a fantastically talented singer/songwriter from Chicago, writing fresh, provocative words and melodies, which when coupled with her vocal range, give a new and exciting sound. She is quoted as saying, "...age ain't nothin' but a number when you've got the chops!!" Born in Chicago, IL, on March 24th; as a youth she studied music, drama, and dance in elementary and high school and later contemplated a full career in opera. Aries grew up on the north and south sides of Chicago listening to her Mom and Dad’s record collection. She says “I loved listening to Minnie Ripperton, Donna Summer and Chaka Khan plus 80’s big vocalists Whitney Houston, Tina Marie and more recently Mary J. Blige and Faith Evans and at the age of 8 I decided to be a singer”. Knowing this, her Grandmother took her to audition for the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Children's Chorus, where she spent eight seasons with the company. After writing her first song at the age of 10 Aries now has over 100 songs written about the experiences of growing up, love, friendships and blossoming into a young woman. Queen Aries rose to stardom on the strength of her stunning five-octave voice; an elastic talent who moved easily from glossy ballads to hip-hop-inspired dance-pop, she earns frequent comparison to Whitney Houston and Eryka Badu but did them both one better by composing all of her own material. Aries traveled across the country, at the age of 18 -- just three weeks after graduating high school -- to pursue a music career; it was when she returned to Chicago that she befriended producer and Billboard Reporter, Gary Wallace of Music Box, with whom she began writing and recording songs. Her big break came as a backing vocalist on a studio session with rapper/singer Smooth, who assisted Aries in obtaining more studio work with Jive Records. Although it took nearly three years of freelance studio work to studios all over Chicago, Aries and her talents were recognized by Jay Prince, CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records and was flown to Houston to feature on Scarface's Album, My Balls and My Word. Her contributions helped that album to climb to gold status and earned Aries world wide recognition, securing her status as a true star in the R&B arena. These days - in true Aries fashion - Aries is working with Ken Trular of Sonic Crave Music Chicago and Dirt Bomb of DBomb Entertainment Las Vegas, formally of Deadwood Music. Her debut album The Age of Aries is now available on CD Baby and iTunes. Her new LP, Life, is available by direct order from [email protected]. "I hope my music inspires ya'll to look within yourself and you will get through anything LIFE has to give ya. But the point ain't really to get through it; it's to create your LIFE....
