Bio
Time is a constant, but it is far from a guarantee. No one knows how much they have, but that shouldn't let that scare them from living every day like there are thousands more on the way. That's how Ernie Dufour sees it as his health isn't too great, but with every breath that escapes his lips, he's making music because it makes him happy, and why shouldn't one do what creates a smile on their face? Aside from a sound into a microphone that any kid would find hilarious, Ernie got his real start in music at the tender age of six. Hearing The Beatles was all it took to inspire the kindergartner to pick up a guitar. Living in a cabin on an island near Ontario, he was a child who lived in modern day isolation. Most days it was the music and his brothers that kept him company, and both have proven to be a worthy companions all these years later. Almost two decades ago he tried his hand at a local radio contest and won a few hours studio time thanks to Rock 95FM. That helped him earn the chance the following year in 2000 to perform live on K106.5FM on The Bonnie Sadler Show. She even interviewed him about his music and life as part of the segment. The years that followed were from far isolated as he performed with Comrie Smith, Kenny Greer, Greg English, Brian Gagnon, Troy Feener, and opened for Fred Eaglesmith and the Flying Squirrels. Come 2007 he was recording an album with his two brothers. Taking a page out of The Beatles book, he really focused on the craftsmanship of the songs he wrote. The future for Ernie Dufour isn't about his health, it's about his music because life should never be centered around the negative aspects of one's existence. After having spent a lot of last year playing often at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, he wants to spend the 2017 writing and recording more music - which is one of his favorite things next to fish and chips.
