Born in Danville Illinois as Melvin Gray, Sonny Blac is a quadruple threat when it comes to the rap industry. Inspired by the music of artists like Tupac, Krs One, Rakim, Run D.M.C. and Ice Cube, In ‘98 he realized his talent for rapping. Sonny started a group called “The Bad Seedz”. He broke out into his solo career in 2000 when he released his album “Casualties of War”. 2006 marked the release of his second album “It’s just my thoughts”. A short break to study engineering, and he was back at it with his group mix tape “Affiliatez for life”. His new solo album “Bullets and Gun smoke”, including a limited DVD edition was just released September, 2011. With over a decade of experience, his talent for music has grown past just the art of rapping. His most recent project includes a mix tape titled “Midwest Underground King” dropping Halloween, 2011. This all leads up to his third solo album, “Tha Afterlife” which will be released around Christmas 2011. Between writing, rapping, engineering, and producing, Sonny Blac’s life is all about music.
