The Reformation is a progressive rock band that formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2008. The name stems from the literal reformation of a defunct group into a more evolved band; in the figurative sense, they seek to reform music with their own interpretations of reality. Their lineup includes Kyle Brower on drums and vocals, Matt Penco on guitar, keyboards and vocals, Caroline Schneider on vocals, and Dan Miller on bass guitar and vocals. These young, devoted musicians show their listeners why music is the most powerful form of art. Their sound is influenced by many talented artists, but primarily Tool, Audioslave, Yes, Pink Floyd, The Mars Volta, King Crimson, Alan Parsons, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Stevie Wonder. Consequently, their own style is a melting pot of many different types of music that includes funk, blues and swing. They create catchy dance songs that can be sung along to, while simultaneously incorporating the more unconventional and progressive elements of heavy psychedelia, atonality, and experimental improvisations, topped off with a twist of humor. Because of this, their songs open the average listener’s eyes to multi-faceted music with developed musicianship and a tight sound. Since late 2008, they have been continuously playing shows around the Pittsburgh area and have co-headlined with acts such as The Flying Eyes and The 9th Ward. They released their first full-length album, The Reformation, in August 2011, and are touring the area to promote it. They seek to find a record label that understands their sound and wants to assist in promoting the band and its music.
