STIX BONES Brooklyn, USA, Home to some of the greatest talents the world has ever known delivers another talented individual whose gift has made him one of the finest musicians in the Tri – State Area. Stix’s career direction evolved when he entered college in Westchester, New York. He received a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance Purchase College, SUNY. Stix has had the opportunity to perform with established NYC poets The Last Poets and 5 time Showtime at rhe Apollo winner Jessica Care Moore, as well as such legendary hip-hop acts Doug E. Fresh, De La Soul, Q- Tip of A.T.C.Q. and Rahzel The Godfather of Noize. He has toured colleges and performed at clubs, & festivals across the country and abroad such as: Harvard University, PAC at Purchase College, Sundance Film Festival, JVC Jazz festival, Minton's Playhouse, The Apollo Theater, The Minetta Lane Theater, The Blue Note London UK, Le Boute De Jazz Paris, France, the legendary Paradise Theater and most recently; the Sugar Bar – owned by the renounced duo Ashford and Simpson. As he continued to work with artist throughout the tri-state area, the jazz performances led Stix back to his training ground in jazz. In 2007 Stix independently released his first full-length Smooth Jazz album entitled "Groove Like This". The album has graced the airwaves of more than 40 jazz radio stations in the US and 16 internet and satellite stations across the globe. It has charted in the top 10 on the digital jazz charts and made it to the top 20 jazz charts in France. In 2008 Stix became the main drummer for internationally known group Soulfege; who fuses a unique blend of Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk and West African Highlife. Soulfege is lead by Oprah Winfrey XM Sirius host Derrick N. Ashong. Stix has had the privilege to record two award winning albums with Soulfege and perform on the Derrick Ashong Experience. In 2009 Stix dipped into his pot of creativity and pulled out his producer chops with a contribution to Matt Marshak’s album “Family Funktion” with the single “Gas Lamp Groove”. In late 2009 Stix got the blues and partnered with song writer/producer/guitarist John Turco releasing the hit Blues album “Beyond the Blues” which features the chart topping hit “Nuttin but the Blues”. Stix Bones whose musical influences are a mix of Gospel, Hip Hop and Jazz musicians has built a respectable name amongst Jazz & Hip Hop artist and is credited as one of most talented drummers of our time.
