Keith Morrison is from Dexter, Missouri. Every time you hear his songs you are hearing a bit of a miracle. At the age of 4 he had a brain tumor removed. With the surgery, there was a 90% chance that he would become paralyzed. Even with a successful surgery, the Doctors didn’t think he would lead a normal life. . He overcame all, learning to walk and talk again. Keith beat the odds. Raised & living in the Missouri heartland gives Keith his focus. His voice & lyrics pay homage to those who came before him, but his enigmatic stage presence sets him apart. His talent as a musician & songwriter is clearly defined, as his touring boundries have exploded to 550% in only 6 short months from his home in Dexter, Missouri. Keith's determination and focus is proven, emerging as a fighter at the tender age of four. Just like his parents. Due to issues during birth, Keith unfortunately had multiple head aches & seizures. His parents were proud & hardworking, yet without medical insurance. The Morrison's church received donations and held benefits to help in their fight to get Keith the treatment he desperately needed. In the Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee; surgeons performed tests, eventually discovering a tumor on his brain. Skilled surgeons removed the tumor, despite a 90% chance of Keith being paralyzed. The risk was taken, giving Keith a chance at a life beyond his own. His rehabilitation took over four months, surprising doctors. Keith had survived, re-learning everything, including walking and talking. However, they warned the Morrison's that Keith would probably never be able to play, read, write or do what children do everyday, without a single thought. Keith's father played drums for a 50’s & 60’s cover band when he was a child, and so a family tradition began. Keith learned to play the drums at 12, playing in his middle & high school bands. The snare drum & triple toms kept him busy... dreaming. Then, there was baseball. Keith was a top baseball pitcher his junior year of high school, pitching the first no-hitter for the Babe Ruth Summer League in Dexter, Missouri. Keith could have played college ball, but decided to chased his dream of playing music. With sports and music, he continued to excel. The Morrison's then moved to Selmer, Tennessee. Keith started his climb, playing in a few bands, then landing a regular gig with “Southern Style”, as the drummer and lead singer, a unique combination of skill & talent. Keith quickly became a well-known and popular artist in the Selmer area. Not long after his success in Selmer, Keith found himself being actively recruited by the band “Steel Country”, playing drums and singing the other half of his week. The songs he covered varied greatly, everything from Alabama to the Zac Brown Band. As his fan base accelerated, people wanted to hear Keith's pipes. The band got a new drummer, and Keith got out front, selling out shows in northern Mississppi. To date, Steel Country has opened for muli-million dollar touring artists, including; Hank Williams Jr. & Jerry Lee Lewis. Keith also was honored to perform at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame with the legendary band, Lynard Skynard. Steel Country released a single in both Japan & The United Kingdom, receiving multiple raves. He also made the finals on the latest "Nashville Star" competition. Keith has been making trips to Music City, Tennessee, religiously, co-writing songs with exceptional songwriters, including; Marty Brown (“I’m From The Country”, Tracy Byrd); Sarah Majors (cuts with Trisha Yearwood), Karen Staley (“I’m Goin’ To Vegas” & “Take Me As I Am”; Faith Hill, (“Keeper Of The Stars), Tracy Byrd, (”A Face In The Crowd”); Michael Martin Murphy, (“Every Time I Cry”, Teri Clark); Corey Barker (songs cut by Daryl Singletary, Rebecca Lynn Howard, T G Sheppard, Cletus Judd, and Johnny Lee); Jon Conley, CJ Watson, Dave Tough, and David Harper, (composer for Sony Pictures, ABC, NBC, CBS & HBO). Keith’s new demo CD is produced by Kenny Royster, and reflects his country- rock style, roots and amazingly smooth voice. He is currently working on a compilation of original work for his upcoming album. His fan base is growing, and anxiously anticipates it's release.
