Ten years earlier, at age four, my father took a family vacation to Memphis, Tennessee. That’s when I saw my first guitar out on my grandfather’s porch. It left an indelible impression on me as I gazed intensely upon it. Although I never went near to touched it, I felt that lonesome guitar beckoning me to come to it. For, there it was…left all alone! [/p][/indent] [indent][p]For two years, from fourteen to sixteen years of age, I attempted to learn to play guitar, on my own. There was no money for me to take guitar lessons. I was just happy to have a used beginner’s guitar, even though I couldn’t really play a tune, or even form the right chords for any particular key.[/p][/indent] [indent][p]Then my entire life was wonderfully transformed at age sixteen when my mother…(who by this time had been separated from my dad since I was a little boy and remarried)…invited me to the Pentecostal church that she attended. I remember entering that church for the first time and seeing the crutches, walking-canes and eye glasses attached to the wall on the right of this one-room store-front church. I remember hearing the gospel preached for the first time ever. The pastor’s name was Alonzo Austin, and he preached a powerful message that told me about Jesus…whose blood was shed for my sins. That, this Jesus was God’s son who was sent from Heaven to set me free from Satan’s authority, his evil influence and from eternal damnation. And, that all I needed to do was to accept Jesus into my heart and repent of my sins, and let Jesus take over and live a victorious life in me that’s filled with great joy, godliness and the sweet promise of eternal life in Heaven. I felt the tug of the HOLY GHOST leading me to accept Christ as my Savior, and I did. At 16, I began my new christian walk.[/p][/indent] [indent][p]So, with my dad’s permission, I began attending this lively, spirit-filled, shouting and dancing-in-the-spirit, miracle ministry. I also brought my guitar to the four weekly worship services. But I still could not play any of the worship songs. I was off beat and out of key and gleefully contributing woeful sounds throughout the entire weekly worship experience, and I’m sure that was very annoying. You should have seen the excruciating looks on the church members faces as they seen me coming for worship, yet again, with my guitar. This went on for weeks and extended into months, but I was having so much fun at church. What do you tell a sixteen year-old kid…(in 1968)…, who is newly saved and faithful to the church, and who loves playing his guitar…(even though it’s really not music…just a lot of loud unpleasant noises?)[/p][/indent] [indent][p]Well, nobody said a word to me. But I’m sure some of them…(if not all of them) prayed hard for me that God would do something spectacular in me. After all, the church members prayed alot anyway and were taught to believe that God would answer prayer. And answer prayer…God did! [/p][/indent][indent][p]During one of the worship services, I was belting out horrible noises just as I usually do, when all of a sudden, God’s anointing came upon me. It got in all five fingers of my left hand and moved them to the correct chord positions, which matched the exact key…(at about the three minute mark)…of the worship song we were now singing.[/p][/indent] [indent][p]Concurrently, the Spirit was moving in my right hand and coordinated all five of those fingers to play the exact strings that were chorded by my left hand. Wow! Praise God! I mean this literally. That’s what the entire church did when after three minutes into the song, they heard…(no more!)…belting and clanging sounds from my guitar, but a sweet harmonious, melodious, heavenly rhapsody that overwhelmed them with great joy. Everyone looked my way and knew it had to be God. They all began to rejoice with great fervor as the Spirit of God began to pour down very heavily upon all…like a Glory-cloud. This was a landmark experience at our church that will forever be remembered…the day that God anointed little Brother Dixon to play guitar…in every key. Yes, in every key! Praise God! Praise God! Praise God! This was the first of many miracles which began happening in my life in 1968, in the small town of East Moline, Illinois.[/p][/indent] [indent][p]God also called me to the ministry as an evangelist, that same year. Also, in 1968, God told me who my wife would be, and three years later, in 1971, I married my beautiful high school sweetheart, Elsa Maria. And, if you’re reading this now…note for the records…that I’m very much in love and still married to my high school sweetheart. [/p][/indent][indent][p]Thanks be to God, I've received miracle after miracle since that time. The latest being that of my first new album, ‘New Songs From Heaven…Redeemed.’ This collection of songs…(and some other songs still in the making and not on this album)…were divinely inspired by God. The journey to each of these songs on my album has been inspirational.[/p][/indent] [indent][p]The 1st song on this cd, ‘Redeemed,’ literally came to me while sitting in my living room. I heard a melody above my head coming from Heaven and I immediately began to play that melody on my guitar. I then heard the lyrics which were also above my head coming from Heaven which I began to sing. [/p][/indent][indent][p]The 2nd song on this cd, ‘Praise Your Name,’ came during a worship service that I attended. As I moved to an unoccupied corner and lifted my hands and voice in worship to Jesus, new lyrics and it’s melody filled my heart and soul, and I began singing what I heard from Heaven.[/p][/indent] [indent][p]The 3rd song on this cd, ‘I Surrender All,’ came when God opened up…(another door of revelation)…to this wonderful spiritual. As I sang this song, the Holy Ghost took my hand and I followed Him as He led me thru the end of the song and seamlessly into a heavenly realm…with new lyrics from above…just for me! [/p][/indent][indent][p]The 4th song on this cd, ‘JESUS,’ came during a revival. Before I started to preach, I began to sing a familiar gospel tune that everyone knew. Instantly, the Holy Ghost anointing poured out upon me and I heard new words and a new melody from Heaven which I began to sing propheticly. And for the next 15 minutes, I walked around in the sanctuary singing a brand new song from Heaven, called ‘Jesus.’ This was a song that could only be sung thru Holy Ghost impartation. The Holy Ghost took me way beyond my natural singing limits to an area only known and mastered by it. I’m blessed to have the original live Holy Ghost version of ‘Jesus’ on cassette, and I may just put it on a future album.
