Jonathon Barz Bannerman was born August 23, 1982 in Baltimore, MD. John began to get into music through his parents at the age of 9. His mother Diane Bannerman was a gospel singer in the church choir, while his father sung on the side at gigs to bring in an extra income. Barz for short, started to get pulled towards the hip hop side of music when his mom took him to her sister’s house, his aunt Katherine. His much older cousin Lamont, use to let John listen to all his old LL Cool J, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap cassettes. Thus he instantly became hooked. The Baltimore Maryland native took his career seriously and went onto attend college at the Institute of Audio Research, where he obtained an associate’s degree in music engineering and production. After graduation, the alias Johnny Barz was formed only to become Jonathon to reach a more mature audience. With his Mother always insisting he use his talents for God, John began to open his eyes to the world, politics, church, spirituality & God. He found a church home in the LFCC (Love Fellowship Christian Center) where he still attends today. In his rhymes, he shares his views on life in general, problems facing the world and seeking the truth about secret societies and our government. All while implementing God in the equation. Some may consider John’s style of music Christian, but to him he describes it as Positive, Conscious & Political with a Spiritual twist. Making an Urban style of positive rap that’s intended towards people in the streets, the clubs and mainstream radio all without forgetting about the man upstairs. After independently releasing his Transition LP album, (via internet only) which garnered critical acclaim and success, the buzz became too big to ignore. Jonathon Barz was quickly scooped and signed to PLG Music Group’s Celebrate Grace Recordings out of Chicago, IL. With PLG’s plan to re-release a revamped version of the Transition LP worldwide, John’s future looks brighter than ever. The Transition will include newly recorded material, re-mixed material, special guest appearances & some outside production. Look for Jonathon Barz to make a name for himself, thus becoming a major household name.
