Bio
C.O.R.E. (Collection Of Raw Energy) is a three-piece Hard Rock band consisting of Russ Holcomb- Lead Vocals/Guitars, Brady Simpson- Vocals/Bass and Eric Austin- Drums/Percussion, hailing from the mid-Michigan area with four years of experience on the local scene. C.O.R.E. is looking to establish a reputation for being one of the best Hard Rock acts on the scene today. Heavily melodic while incorporating moments of controlled aggression, C.O.R.E. has great rock harmonies, potent lyrical content and strong delivery. Picture heavy tribal drumming interwoven with a touch of metal, unique earth shaking bass tones that snap from low rumbles to melodic highs and guitars that transition between quiet whispers, and climatic distorted explosions. We are not afraid to push the envelope on what rock music is expected to be, making it impossible to be categorized or pigeonholed into one genre. Russ and Eric started writing and playing together in late 1999, this would be the foundation of C.O.R.E. After realizing through exploration of our musical boundaries and much self discovery that there was something tangible, some unique energy that we thought not only had potential but stood on its own, we then decided to take the next step. Looking to name this new entity and being that we were self taught musicians and just learning to write music together, we inevitably came up with acronym C.O.R.E. (Collection Of Raw Energy). We then started looking for a bassist who not only complimented our style, but also one who shared the same idea's and vision. Late in 2001 we found Brady and it didn't take long to figure out he was the missing piece we had been looking for, C.O.R.E. was complete. C.O.R.E. now has over 20 original compositions and has released a self - titled EP in late 2004 with the help of studio one in Lansing, MI. We have pushed hundreds of units and continue to push them at every show, through our website and by word of mouth. In the past year we have been aired on the largest Rock station in the mid-Michigan area Q106, (premiering on their extremely local segment on two separate occasions) we are also being aired daily on online radio stations (like scrub radio). Our fan base has rapidly increased in 2006. C.O.R.E. is really created quite a buzz on the local circuit, partly due to a commanding stage presence, word of mouth and high energetic shows. We now feel that we are armed with right tools, experience and support to confidently stand out as a breath of fresh air in today's stuffy mundane Rock scene. Look for us to release a full length CD, possibly a DVD, play out of state, and continue to broaden our fan-base, plus more. Basically we our looking to take it to the next level, and in five years as a band we have never changed our lineup (something very uncommon in today's local music scene). C.O.R.E. has played countless shows and venues including numerous private parties, clubs and bars (with some of the best local talent that MI has to offer) such as the Roxy, Planet Rock, Temple Club, Oade's Hidden Camel, The Rock Spot, Ten Bells, The Rocker, Jimmy's Lake Pump Tavern, Eagle Inn, Brannigan Brothers, Club Ludwigs, The Point After, The Sportsman's, Mac's Bar, The Center, Rick B's, Old Town Bar, Garfield Lake Tavern, The Frontier, and many more. National acts that C.O.R.E. has shared the stage with include Powerface, Audiblethread, Pyschostick, and Seven Mary Three.
