Zzaj Productions first band is Detroit Improv Duo being presented (the label has over 60 bands). Their first CD was improvised together in a matter of hours. The 3 tunes showcased here received critical acclaim from many reviewers around the world. The CD, titled "Intuitive Tesseract", has 5 additional smokin' hot trax on it. To purchase the CD, visit [link="http://indieonestop.com/jamroom/bands/647/item_345.php"] HERE[/link] Next band up is "Ernesto Diaz-Infante and Rotcod Zzaj", and features spoken-word and found sound manipulation by Ernesto and keyboards by Zzaj (aka Dick Metcalf). You can purchase this CD [link="http://indieonestop.com/jamroom/bands/647/item_319.php"] HERE[/link] One other feature at Zzaj Productions is our MUSIC REVIEW magazine, IMPROVIJAZZATION NATION... I've been writing music reviews in this 'zine since about 1990, so it's a long-established tradition... we currently receive between 30 and 40 CD's a month, and are always looking for more! If you're an artist with material in need of review, visit the site, check out my review style, & if you dig what's being done, snail your material to us for review, at Zzaj Productions, c/o Dick Metcalf, 5308 65th Ave SE, Lacey, WA 98513. The 'zine is [link="http://zzaj.freehostia.com"] HERE[/link] The next band up in our Showcase is called "VGM" (for Vale, Glaude, Metcalf), and features synths from Harlan Mark Vale, trumpet and bass by Remus Glaude and keyboards/spoken-word by Dick Metcalf. You can purchase this CD [link="http://indieonestop.com/jamroom/bands/647/item_347.php"] HERE[/link] In about 2003, I solicited the help of a guitar/Chapman Stick player named Eric Wallack (he and I had done some other CD's together, too, which will be highlighted here later)... the result of his efforts is a CD that features me singing (as well as playing Kurzweill PC 88) on all the tracks... it was called "Zee Zzaj Zinger", in a somewhat inept parody of Al Jolson - BUT, the music seemed to "hit home" for several reviewers. 3 primary tracks (from the 10 on the album) are featured here. Hope you enjoy them enough to visit [link="http://indieonestop.com/jamroom/bands/647/item_348.php"] HERE[/link] to purchase the CD from us!
