Bio
If you ask Rashida Rose, now known as Ainjel, who influenced her the most, you might want to take a seat while she rattles off the many artists and performers who have inspired her. Her love of performing began at the tender age of eleven when Rashida enchanted audiences as a dancer at the Teen Splash at Coney Park. That performance set the stage for this gifted artist’s path, and she set upon rounding out her talent. She changed her name to A.I.N.J.E.L., an acronym defining her service to God, the only “Advance Intelligent Network Justo Eliminate Lies”. As a vocalist/arranger/songwriter, Ainjel was inspired by the expansive vocal range and inflections of Whitney Houston; the soulful vocal energy of Stevie Wonder; the strong gospel tone of CeCe Winans (and the way she is “just about her father’s business"); and the earlier work of Mariah Carey. But, the people who really sparked her love for performing and singing were Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. Ainjel was influenced by the smooth delivery of Diane Ross, both vocally and the way she presented herself and her talent, as well as the songwriting, musical, and performing skills of Michael Jackson. Ainjel also respects the accomplishments of fellow Jamaican, Sheryl Lee Ralph and musicians Quincy Jones and Kenneth Edmonds. As a confident, self-taught business woman, Ainjel became an accomplished photographer and graphic artist, but she did not stop there. She transformed her talent from a secular artist to a gospel artist, and claims that her current conquest is to play lead guitar. Her emergence on the Jamaican music scene quickly led to a demand for her vocal talents, as both session and back up vocalist for many notable Jamaican recording artists: Marcus I, Yasus Afari, and Papa San; as well as Hip Hop artist D.O.O.M. & Mizri, and a couple of duet performances with L.A. Lewis (under her given name, Rashida Rose). This well rounded, polished, dynamic performer, whose intention is to live out her purpose, is the kind of vocalist who will raise goose bumps and leave a memorable mark on her audience each time she performs. With her unique vocal texture and emotional delivery, there is little question that Ainjel is headed for great things.
