Bio
The Westword's "World Music Award Winners" for 2008. Fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass and drums only begin the staging as whistles, pipes and vocals sing of stories old and new. The Indulgers music continues to evolve with the seasons. The melding rock & roll and "the west" with tradtional "Celtic" instruments and arrangements creates the signature sound. 2009 will see the release of the band's seventh CD. World Class "Irish" Rock - KBCO Radio "Everyone's Favorite Irish band"- Rocky Mountain News The Indulgers began gigging on a Wed. night as the resident act at Denver Irish Pub, FADO, the band had started to come together a few months earlier and took the initial opportunity to practice in Nallen's Irish Pub "poolroom" in the heart of Denver. When anyone wandered upstairs they were asked to come back later. Three became five as a demo took place at The Alley Studios, Wheat Ridge. The producer/engineer on the day Mike Nile, knew fiddle player Renee Fine and together with drummer Pat Murphy Jr, bassist Chris Murtaugh and Irish vocalist/songwriter Damien McCarron The Indulgers came together. It was decided to name the band The Indulgers until a better idea came along. Mike Nile who had been playing bass with the legendary SPIRIT before moving back home from LA to Colorado. The teaming of the two songwriters brought forward an Irish/Scottish/Celtic sound with a western style and shortly after the debut, the band was playing 100 shows a year in Colorado as well as Vegas showrooms, festivals, theaters and summer concert series far and wide in the US including appearances at the Wildwood NJ Irish Weekend, Chicago's Gaelic Park, Albany's Irish Fest, San Francisco's "O'Reilly" Oyster Fest and the Kansas City's Irish Festival. Damien McCarron's father was a time-long member of the Guinness Choir in Dublin Ireland, and originally from the Motherwell area in Scotland giving The Indulgers it's roots to Scottish musical heritage. McCarron spent his summers in Connemara and Perth while growing up in Dublin and the major musical influences of Horslips, Thin Lizzy, Christy Moore, The Waterboys, Oysterband and the "pure drop" of Irish Trad melded with the new discoveries of living in America. Teaming with Mike Nile brings the heart and soul (the rock & roll) of American influence to the music with the handle of "Celtic Rock" the unique style of original music The Indulgers perform. The Indulgers have recently recorded a video for new song "Whiskey Tonight" which is now available online at www.shamrocker.com, bebo, youtube, & myspace. The band homesite (shamrocker.com) also features interviews (KBCO Studio C, KRFC radio and footage from the Irish tour). www.SHAMROCKER.com The Indulgers are: Damien McCarron - Vocals, Guitar Mike Nile - Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin, Accordion, Whistles and Electronic Bagpipe Renee Fine - Fiddle/Violin Pat Murphy Jr - Cocktail Drumset (Stand Up Kit) Chris Murtaugh - Bass
