Bio
I started playing piano at age 9 and started playing guitar at age 17. My first electric guitar was a 1958 Fender Jazzmaster, which I still have because I have always loved the twangy sound . I have always liked surf guitar instrumentals by the Venturers, Dick Dale, Duane Eddy, Link Wray, and other groups from that era. Besides being a keyboard player and guitar player, I am also a composer so I will be adding some of my original instrumentals to the showcase. On these tracks, I play all of the instruments with my main instruments being keyboards and guitar. THE SONGS SLEEPWALK This song was originally written and recorded by Santos and Johnny and done by Brian Seltzer and Joe Satriani. I have always liked it so I wanted to try recording it using an open G-tuning WALK DON'T RUN This song was originally written by Johnny Smith and recorded by the Ventures. It was one of those songs that seems like everybody knew a riff or two from it but I wanted to play the entire song. RUMBLE. This was a classic Link Wray song but I liked the simplicity of the song and the opportunity to use the "Whammy bar". BITES THE WIENNIEThis is an original song and has no lyrics contrary to the title. TANGO ON MY MIND I have always liked "Tangos" and was going through a phase of listening to tangos and I was wondering how it would sound to play one with an electric guitar. SURFING SOLONEW This song starts out with an electric guitar solo taking place at the first position on the guitar neck followed by a solo played above the 12 fret which builds up with the lead guitars playing in unison a brief respite with an organ solo and finally a crescendo with the two guitars playing in unison with the organ. WIPEOUT This song was originally done by the Surfaris and featured some real heavy drums but I am not a drummer and I really liked the lead guitar riffs so I recorded it with an emphasis on the guitar. PENTATONIC SURFINGNEW This is a song that I wrote recently. I had laid down drum tracks, rhythm guitar tracks, and bass guitar tracks for a song and then realized that the lead guitar would not work out the way I thought it would so since the song was written in A minor, I placed my capo on the fifth fret and created this song using an A minor pentatonic scale and incidently it has five verses and comes in just under five minutes. This song has been brought to you by the number 5.
