Born in Miami, Florida, a descendant of Colombian immigrants, Karen began playing the piano at a very young age. She began studying at the age of 6 and by 10 she had written her first two compositions titled, “Just Right” and “4 Brothers.” Upon completing her secondary education in Lausanne, Switzerland, she enrolls at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio where she graduates with a B.A. in Comparative Literature. She returns home to Miami where she completes a Master of Music program at the University of Miami. Karen has written for various artists, has scored for short documentaries and has performed for private functions in the United States, South America and Europe. She has recently launched her first album of Christmas music paying tribute to her Latin American roots called “Sueños de Invierno – Winter Dreams.” This wonderful album has both Latin American and traditional American Christmas songs. It is a lovely collection of slow nostalgic but at the same time upbeat syncopated numbers that will let you reminisce of the joyous days of Christmas. Currently, Karen is working on her next piano album which focuses on a fusion of engaging piano melodies with compelling Afro-Colombian rhythms. This new production promises to be one of incredible strength and power but at the same time, sweet and gentle. She is also producing for other artists under her independent record label. Espanol: Nacida en la ciudad de Miami y descendiente de emigrantes Colombianos, Karen mostró desde muy niña su inclinación por la música y específicamente por el Piano; Empezó a estudiarlo desde los 6 años y a los 8 hizo sus dos primeras compociciones “Just Right” y “4 Brothers”. Una vez finalizada su escuela secundaria en Lausanne, Suiza, viajó a Ohio a estudiar literatura comparada y luego en la Universidad de Miami realizó el Master en Media, Writing and Production para complementar todo lo que habia estudiado con sus profesores de música a lo largo de su vida. Después de producir canciones para varios artistas, componer piezas musicales para audiovisuales, ampliar su propio catálogo y realizar recitales privados, Karen graba y lanza su primer CD haciendo un Homenaje a sus tradiciones y raices llamado “Sueños de Invierno” en donde compila lo mejor de la música de Navidad y plasma en la interpretación su gran calidad de artista. En la actualidad se encuentra desarrollando su siguiente producción compuesta de canciones propias y al tiempo está produciendo bajo su sello independiente a varios nuevos artistas.
