I have been writing songs for over 30 years but have never really tried to promote them, although they have always been well received by people who have heard them. Joined the ISA just over a year ago and the content and info on their website has spurred me on and it\\\'s where I first heard about Showcase Your Music (recently entered 2 songs in the UK songwriting contest as a result of becoming an ISA member, and they both achieved semi final placings). This has given me a greater desire to expose my songs to a wider audience, hence my appearance on SYM. I will also be entering more competitions and exploring other ways of promoting my music. Always find it difficult to categories my material as songs can work in many different styles (how many country song covers / interpretations have appeared in \\\"mainstream\\\" charts i.e. Alison Krauss When You Say Nothing At All, John Mitchel Montgomery I Swear, Dolly Parton I Will Always Love You). That\\\'s why I think sites like SYM are so good because people can make their own assessment of a song and will either enjoy the original version or may feel it would benefit from a different arrangement in another genre. I suppose that\\\'s what makes music and songs so appealing and enduring that they can be all things to all people. Copyright sorted so more songs shortly. Please check them out.
