I started playing at age 7, and did the usual classical thing for 10 years. While still at school, moved on to playing the local pubs & clubs in my local town. I then discovered the joys of working with other musicians, so after doing some time with duos, trios and 4/5 piece bands, got a gig with a 15 piece showband, and this turned out to be my favourite way of working. At that time, early to mid 70's, I also got involved with scoring musical arrangements for a major nightclub chain in the UK. Although I'm a piano player, I just love listening to every instrument in a band, which also helped getting to grips with learning to score arrangements. In between the big band gigs, I spent a few years touring around with various soul, pop & rock bands in the UK & Europe. After a stint on the QE2 for six months, I ended up playing with a 23 piece band, which also entailed doing some regular BBC work on a popular show of the time. Marriage and kids put an end to all the travelling, (I was ready to settle down), and what with starting up my own business, and the rapidly-expanding family, I ended up not touching a keyboard for 17 years. I have more time for myself these days, so purchased a Yamaha Tyros 2 (arranger keyboard). The sound samples are very realistic, which suits me as musically, I live in the past! It's great for putting ideas down quickly, as it has onboard sequencing. More complicated edits are done via Sonar on the PC. I met a great bunch of guys on a forum, who all own Yamaha arranger keyboards, (there's a whole bunch of models), and we upload midis of our covers and originals. Unfortunately, the forum is closing down, so I offered to build a new one, which is now open, as of the end of May 2008.
