Bio
I've been a professional musician and entertainer since 1984, focusing mainly on Elizabethan/renaissance repertoire on period stringed instruments. During this time I have released four albums, the latter two being solo CDs. However, I have now strayed into the 17th century and recently released a CD of Restoration comedy songs (1650-1700). It's called 'Bazimakoo' and contains arguably the filthiest songs in the English language, most of which were written by Henry Purcell. This is Purcell as 'one of the lads' who enjoyed a good drink like the rest of us. I have used four antique instruments on this recording: the hurdy gurdy, Milanese mandolin, English guittar and the bass colascione. The videos show me also playing the cittern, made for me two years ago by Peter Forrester, based on one in the Brussels collection. I like my music to entertain the listener, so please follow the links to six short videos, filmed in October 2007 by Adam Verity, highlighting some of the 33 tracks. Alternatively listen to the music here, but don't be put off by the labels Classical/Folk. My music lies in that wonderful grey area, defying labels. 'Bazimakoo' is linked to my new one-man comedy show set in 1695 called 'Finery & Filth'. Enough of this blatant commercialism - enjoy the music! www.youtube.com/DanteFerrara www.danteferrara.co.uk[/link]
