Bio
When discussing talented producers in the Canadian music industry, the name Anwan Ekpo is always mentioned by anyone who has ever heard his work. Brilliance. Anwan has an unquestionable talent when it comes to making music people can feel. He knew earlier than most that music was going to play a major role in his life. Like most young boys, Anwan’s major concerns were school and sports. He also played the piano and later on taught himself how to play the guitar. However growing up in a household where music was a constant,t he took advantage of his access to crates upon crates of records. It became one of his past times, and little did he know at the time that this particular hobby was going to prove to be his most important. He had access to a wide variety of music, and all of these genres ultimately became the soundtrack to the rest of his life. After his learning experiences in England, working at Flu Boys Studio with Craig “Keys” Manton, Anwan pushed forward in the music industry. He returned to Canada where his talents preceded him, and he was asked to be one of two who would become the production team then known as Buddah Brothas. As a member of this duo, Anwan continued to rise. He made tracks that forced artists to seek him out. With his uniqueness and his ability to fearlessly blend genres, artists knew that anything he put his hands on would be great. His high standards have a powerful impact on most, so artists wanted to work with him, they sought out his ‘ear’ and they wanted his sound. When Anwan knew he’d done all that he could under the Buddah Brothas name, together with a close friend, Anwan began a Music Production and Sound Design company—EASE Music Entertainment. To no one’s surprise, under this new name Anwan continued his success. He has lent his talents to a wide range of products-- television commercials to films, radio ads to scoring all the music for Tre Armstrong’s (How She Move, So You Think You Can Dance Canada) ‘Dancercise’ fitness DVD’s, from demo tapes to completed tracks for purchase—Anwan’s creations can be heard as songs and sounds. While making sure EASE stays a success, Anwan continues to cultivate his, organic sounds, for the masses. follow An1 and EASE Music on Twitter: @doitwithease @TheRealAnwan Written by Nadine Queensborough
