BIO: JOHNNIE “SUADE” GILLUM Johnnie “Suade” Gillum, known to his peers as "Johnnie Suade," was born in Houston, Texas September 22, 1969. At the age of 10, he first fell in love with music by listening to his father’s band, which toured southeast Texas. At 16, he seriously learned bass and played for hours studying bass licks of Earth Wind & Fire, Dazz Band and ZZ Hill. Settling upon keyboards/ workstations as his primary interest, he begin to seriously compose music would lead to events that changed his life. He began to enter contests in Oklahoma and Texas. In 1993, he won the local radio contest MAKE IT OR BREAK IT where he earned a chance to meet before Arista’s executives in New York. Upon his return to Houston, he joined Royal People Pentecostal Church, which appreciated his musical contribution of producing Christian artists and concerts. He was in constant demand as a composer to write tracks for local acts. That drive lead to the formation of Luney Tunes Productions that featured local rappers and R&B artists. Johnnie Suade’s vision of a successful music career is writing authentic and untraceable styles. He says, “Aretha Franklin is Aretha Franklin. No other artist’s remake could rise above hers.” So, when he pens such an insatiable and passionate composition, such as “Seeking Wrong”, audiences rave for more. In 2004, he turned his attention toward another musical direction when he was hand picked by the producer to co-direct the music video, “If Only” for the hard rock band, Revolution. Johnnie Suade currently serves as co-CEO and chairman, of Ne’phaunt Entertainment, which encompasses local talent of Vickie Hendley, Ivan and Nena Cole.
