Bio

Thierry Djallo is a multi-faceted performer and composer who displays a rare vocal dexterity and originality. Singing in French and as well as English, he is free from the constraints of conventional words; choosing instead to scat and rhyme in his own language which has been developed over the years. Thierry also plays an array of percussion instruments including the Djembe and spring drums A Trilogy: Ochún/Oricha – El Balance – Guerreros (1990, Film/Video, 28:00) This stylistic collage addresses balance between “feminine” and “masculine” forces and the meshing of inner and outer realities. The work consists of three shorts and the animated sequences between them; filmed internationally with an original score by multicultural artists, Guillermo and Bobi Céspedes, Thierry Djallo, William R. Jack, Ustad Habib Khan and Auschim Chadhouri; drawings by Bárbara Safille.
