Bio
Napoleon X is a Providence-based musician, producer, filmmaker and activist. He is founder and principal of Protown Music Productions (Protown), an independent music and video production firm specializing in the commercial and industrial music markets. Protown produces, releases, distributes, and promotes Cds, DVDs. Protown has produced music for the films including film scoring for WU: The story of the Wu Tang Clan and The Love of Liberty Brought Us Here. He has also produced music for artists including LoverJ, Skorpio, Bea Barclay, Tropical Power and ThaMyth and music videos as well as videos for Miss Rhode Island Latina 2006 and Providence Sound Sessions 2004-06, The City Beat show with Tony Bass, Spittin’Images, Suave and Streetnoise, Diamond aka Young Blood, and the artist Rome. As a musician, Napoleon X has performed in several countries including: United States(USA), Canada, Holland, France, Spain, Portugal, and Cape Verde, West Africa, and the Middle East. Protown has produced several events including the Cape Verdean and Brazilian night at Providence Sound Sessions 2004-2006, Day of Portugal, and Show of Unity concerts. In 2005, Napoleon X and Ken Bento completed the documentary Black Men Can Fly: The Story of George S. Lima, which has been broadcast on Rhode Island PBS and was named the Official Selection of the 2006 Roxbury Film Festival and the Official Selection of the 2005 Rhode Island International Film Festival. Napoleon X co-founded The Black Air Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, in 2005 with George S. Lima.
