If you’re looking for some super smooth, over produced, pretty pop tunes, or love songs then keep on looking. You won’t find it here. Sahib Radio’s music is raw, rough around the edges, gritty, and doesn’t really fit into any specific genre. Subject matter is usually controversial, and dark. Life competes with death. Demons compete with angels, and the past competes with the present. And none of it is very pretty. This is not top 40 stuff, nor does Sahib expect it to ever be accepted by the masses. He once stated that if he’s lucky, maybe one out of every nine listeners would even like his work. He’ll be the first to admit that his work will never appeal to any record label, and that is just fine with him. He doesn’t perform live anymore, giving that up several years ago. He considers himself a recording artist and the whole recording process as an art form in itself. He writes, arranges, plays most all the instruments, records, and mixes everything himself in the comforts of his home recording studio, in Western North Carolina. The end product being a piece of art by an artist. After all, would a visual artist hire someone to brush the paint onto the canvas and interpret what they visualize? Sahib is a true indie artist and considered by many to be a dominate figure in the internet indie music revolution going on in the world today. ______________________________________________________ Maria Daines, Cambridge UK Paying respect... Some musicians lead the way and clear paths for others to follow... It's hard to put into words what Sahib Radio does to make his music a listening experience rather than merely songs that you can take or leave. If you 'get' his work then you are hooked & that's just the way of it. I'm not sure if it's the telling of his stories, in a voice that you know may possibly have lived through these scenes or if it is the atmospheres that creep up on you as he creates sounds that can make the music trade places with your mind and the colours there. As a lyricist it is hard to match anyone to these enlightening & challenging themes with poetic twists save one or two famed wordsmiths that hang easily in the genius catchment. This brings me to the conclusion that Sahib is a complete artist and one who deserves the title 'Unique' and will surely in the next few years earn the mantle 'Legendary' to go with it. ____________________________________________________________________ Gaslight District, San Diego, Ca. Sahib..no one tells a story like you. With every word, you disturb the innards of a soul with profound and uncomfortable truths that shake up the comfort zone of ones soul..thank you for creating such works The poetry, the compositions, the challenging subject matter...and the almighty execution that only you do. ____________________________________________________________________ Steve Gilmore, London UK The music you hear sounds ethnic, but underneath there's this rock sensibility that provides the powerhouse of the music. An artist to be savoured, in heaped up doses. Highly Recommended! ____________________________________________________________________ The Future, Independent Radio Station If I ever decide to get drunk on bourbon, hop into a 1960 New Yorker, and drive from Vegas to Barstow, and then out to Bakersfield to find the "Real American Dream", this will be my soundtrack. The song Cold Axe, off the album New World Senate. ____________________________________________________________________ One Angry Swede, OAS Review Board, The Big Show on Scrub Radio Song Of The Week 'Bottom of the Well' - from the album LIONS IN A CAGE. I found the track to be almost mesmerizing - and worthy of several listens. Many of the other tracks listed are in a similar vein. I'd recommend checking out 'Hanging Tree' and 'Witchy Voodoo Woman' as well. I can hear the listed influences in the vocals but also a combination of Bob Dylan and Billy Bob Thorton from the movie Sling Blade. ____________________________________________________________________ Michael Kolepke @ BeSonic Somewhere between Lou Reed and Tom Waits, Sahib Radio tells us his everyday life studys and connect them with a little repeating piano-melody and a whining guitar. "For a couple of bucks you can get a tattoo maybe even two..." The song Dirty Seaport Town from the album Lions In A Cage ____________________________________________________________________ Pilesar, Washington DC This track is super smooth. sounds like deep-south-louisiana-swamp-lounge. reminds me of Tom Waits and early Residents. I'm impressed. The song Bottom Of The Well, from the album Lions In A Cage ____________________________________________________________________ Al Grego, The Consensus Shades of the Man in Black himself Johnny Cash. The song itself is dark and moody which suits the singers raspy voice and the down tempo of the country & western-style rythm. The chorus is haunting and after a few listens, it's hard to get out of your mind. I could hear this track in a Quentin Tarantino film. The song Bottom Of The Well, from LIONS IN A CAGE ____________________________________________________________________ Steve Gilmore, London UK Sahib Radio should be a familiar name, as well he should be because the man is everywhere - his brand of American rock does seem to appeal right across the board. The first version of Money From The Satisfied Man is fairly typical Sahib style (think a New Orleans sound Springsteen) although I thought that Sahib kinda rushed some of the lines. Still, musically, it's a peach and well up the usual high standard I have come to expect from this musician. Style like this you don't hear everyday and I'd recommend this on the music alone - a fine blend of Springbean and Dylan that is pure Sahib Radio. The song: Money From The Satisfied Man, a co-write with Carol Douglas ______________________________________________________ The songs found here are off his albums "THE STRANGE LIFE AND TIMES OF SAHIB RADIO", "SCARS", "A BETTER ENDING" "LIONS IN A CAGE", "ST. AUGUSTINE'S CALLING" "THE BONE READER" "TRUE INDIE" "NEW WORLD SENATE" "GOOD CITIZEN" "KILLING KIND" "SOCIAL DISORDER" and the upcoming album "I GOTTA RIGHT TO BE HERE".
