I was introduced to the vibe as an infant by Moms. She tells me from time to time the story of how she would place me on the floor by the speaker if nothing else would keep me from crying. She said "you would cry and cry and cry, until I set you down by the music, then you would just stop crying." I can only imagine. Just the thought of it brings me peace. My older brothers guided the vibe to me as well, bringing me musical visions through the form of Zapp, Grand Master Flash & The Furious Five, Prince, The Time, and Michael Jackson. I can remember reading the musical poetry of Rick James as his record would spin around with the Gordy symbol at the age of 6. I didn't even know who or what Gordy was at the time...lol. Most, if not all of my memories are associated with music in some way, shape, or form. Akron, Ohio is my place of birth, though I'm now beginning to realize that wherever music is from, is my home as well. Whatever music is…is what I am made of. J.R. Rivers is an artist.
