Bio
With members in Brisbane, Northern NSW and Sydney The Ninth Chapter formed in 2007 where they grew from a three piece led by guitarist/vocalist Jaz Munro to a seven piece funk outfit combining percussionist/vocalst Glen McClymont, drummer Zac Page, bass guitarist Dan Bowland, guitarist Joe Wurf, trumpeter Tom Hilliar and special guest saxophonist Dillon Carlsson and Guitarist Fraser Munro. Their unique blend of influences ranging from Funk to Jazz & Blues combined with an energetic and expressive live show has seen them entertaining packed houses for years. Since 2007, The Ninth Chapter have gone about their business, developing lasting relationships with the renowned venues between Brisbane & Sydney such as The Beach Hotel (Byron Bay) , The Joynt (Brisbane), The Rails (Byron Bay), The Buddha Bar (Byron Bay), The Clocktower Hotel (Grafton) and The Federal Hotel (Bellingen). All are regular venues on the Chapter's calendar. With the recent "Common Ground" EP release tour culminating in a sellout show at Sydney's renowned Club 505 they have now added another to that list. The Ninth Chapter is anticipating a busy 2011 as a result of a successful EP Launch. “Our new release definitely reflects where we are at as a band and the funk and groove element we all enjoy playing” says bass player Dan Bowland. Most of the seven piece outfit are originally from The North Coast of NSW and they have set about ensuring their sound reflects the lifestyle they love and have grown accustomed to. “We always incorporate an element of fun in our music, and although at times there is a lot going on with the distinctive funk, bass and brass, there is always the solid undertone of a relaxed good time” says percussionist Glen McClymont. • “By the end of the night it was clear that they were their own band, with their own sound, and electric force that inspired fun within everyone inside the venue”- JAM Magazine • “These guys are a must see band”-James Duggan (North Coast Media music reviewer) • “The local lads bring funk and groove by the bucketful, a good time was had by all”- The Daily Examiner • "The Ninth Chapter's latest release is like sipping a single malt scotch on a warm summers day - sophisticated with just enough bite" - The Beast ( East Sydney Music Review)
