Message from the band: We recently won 8th place out of 28 bands in the talent contest at 'Kingdom Bound" in Darrien Lake N.Y. “The victory belongs to the Lord. We praise and worship and honor Him. We love Him with all our heart and all our soul and all our strength and all or mind. We know that life is Christ in us and daily we learn. ‘Church on Fire’ is you and I and all followers of Jesus Christ who, in our heart, know that the return of our King is truly imminent; though no one knows the time or the day. ‘This is what I will do in the last days, God says: I will pour out my Spirit on everyone. Your sons and daughters will proclaim my message; your young men will see visions and your old men will have dreams. Yes, even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will proclaim my message.’ Acts 2:14-18; Joel 2:28-29 Praise to Him! Praise to Him! We are thankful to God the Father that he has chosen us to minister in our (small) capacity and ‘sow the seeds’ through music and media. We hope you enjoy our music. We encourage you to share it with those who have yet to become children of God through simple faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and the only true Love in this world. So let’s fire it up! God willing, we will meet you face to face---we have all of eternity! Thanks be to God.” Biographical Note: We worship God on Sundays from Georgetown Community Church (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada) and during our involvement with the church worship group, Andre, Bob and Manny ventured into a special project with the focus being on original music. Hurting for more ‘sound’ we invited Peter to play keys for a couple of songs, and now he is our lead guitar player. The Lord has blessed our efforts because with prayer and work, the group has evolved over 2 years with some band members switching roles and an utter down pouring of songs and blessings. Andrea was the latest member to join the group and together we have embarked on firing up a ministry of music and media, servants of the Lord. "Church On Fire" has a great mix of band members from Canada, England, Holland, and Portugal, and we pray that God will continue to bless us. If you have heard us, please pray for us and support us in any way you can. Manny Pereira (vocals; rhythm guitar): One of my favorite verses in Scripture is Joshua 1:8-9. I can honestly tell you that the Lord has truly answered every one of my prayers worthy of being answered and He has done so in abundance. God is so good. He is so faithful to His word and promises. If I have anything to say it is this: “Please read the Bible and please pray, daily.” Life is hard and watch out because the days to come will make today look like a day in the park. Stay tuned, listen, watch and see. May God bless you and I look forward to meeting you. Peter Howells ( lead guitar, keyboards ): I first picked up a guitar way back when I was just 13 years old. My big brother played in a band and I just knew that given the chance I would be able to play and play I did!. Every chance I had, I would pick up my guitar and fumble through the chords until my fingers were so sore I couldn’t stand it anymore. Manny and the boys originally asked me to play keyboards in the band which I still do but I’m really a guitar player. I was saved on Thursday February 7th 1980 at Kennedy Road Tabernacle in Brampton, Ontario, Canada and have never looked back. The Lord has blessed me in so many ways, a beautiful wife, wonderful marriage, three healthy children, and three grandchildren. God is great!. My favorite scripture is Mathew 18: 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them. ( NRSV ) This blows my mind every time I think about it!. Our Lord is right there with us in church, at band practice, and every time we perform in public. All I can say is wow! Bob Hesselink (bass, backing vocals) Philippians 2:1-11 Do everything with an attitude similar to that of our Lord Jesus. Let everything be for Him and not for vain conceit and selfish ambition. Doesn’t that fly in the face of our modern society!! Our purpose should be one of humble devotion to the kingdom that is coming in all it’s splendor. Amen and Amen. Andrea Russell-vanKoningsbruggen (vocals and rhythm guitar) A couple of my favorite scriptures are Romans 5:1-5 and 2 Cor 3:17-18. Being a person set free by Gods love and grace in my adult life, I treasure His word and give thanks for His love and grace everyday. I know what it is to be without and to do without, but now I know the joy that come from having a personal relationship with Jesus. Nothing in this life matters as much as having Jesus beside me. For I can face anything that comes my way in the strength and love of God. There is peace like you having never known when you trust the creator of everything. You don't have to have all the answers, just knowing the one who does have them is enough. My greatest desire is to know Him more and more and to grow like Him from glory to glory, and to reveal the wonder of knowing Him to others through my music and my life. Andre’ Van Koningsbruggen ( Drums ) Born and raised in Holland and moved to Canada in 2003, I attended The Salvation Army Church with my wife Andrea and got introduced to Sunday Worship on bass guitar. Through Worship I was drawn closer to God and accepted Christ in my life that same year. I'm still participating in the Sunday Worship band member this time as guitar player since I've played guitar since I was about 15 (...way different genre though) but found an old dream come through to grab the opportunity to play the drums for Church On Fire. Worshipping God through music is my ministry and I'm truly thankful for the musical talents that God has blessed me with and that it may help lead others to Christ just as it did for me. (Psalm 100) Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God, give thanks to him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever Amen To contact 'Church On Fire' e mail: [email protected] Phone: 905-873-7404
