Bio
Cole Park Stijn Cole graduated from Studio Herman Teirlinck in 1999. His end work was “A Kiss or a…”, an exhilarating theatre monologue with mad stories and immortal fantastical songs at the piano. (With throbbing titles like ‘Philosophy Phalaphel’ or ‘I’m going to kick you over the wall’.) Theatre makers and theatres alike noticed him and hauled him in, and for eight years he successfully fulfilled the role of actor. He played for HetPaleis, Het Toneelhuis, Martha!tentatief, once in a while for television, and from 2001 on with his own theatre company Podium Modern. Barring a few exceptions (a song here and there) his musical hunger wasn’t stilled. That is, until Podium Modern decided to make an entirely musical show entitled ‘Off The Record’ in 2004. Podium Modern ceased to exhist; the band Off The Record was born, and went on a three year tour across nearly every stage in Flanders and the Netherlands. (Both cultural centra and big festivals like Pukkelpop and Lowlands). All this time however, Stijn was brooding on something: Stijn Cole is an exceptional singer and a unique songwriter. He went looking for a kindred soul and happened upon Youri Van Uffelen (tRam, BZB). They locked themselves in Stijn’s home studio and filed and ground away at Stijn’s songs. The result is Cole Park. Cole’s musical playground. Van Uffelen is his partner in crime. Sometimes they play sweet, often times they play rough. Cole Park is a unique warm voice. Cole Park are songs that you’ve never heard before but that you’ve always known. But first and foremost Cole Park is a rock band. Hard and wonderful. Like life itself.
