Starting at the age of 12, he played drums in high school bands, then moved to bass, guitar and vocals to fill the needs of different band situations. He joined the Windsor Ontario band, Destiny in 1981 and toured Canada from Windsor to St John's Newfoundland from 1982-1984. Following the two and a half year stint, with Destiny, he started writing, recording and producing his own material as well as for other artists. During this time, he played with bands such as Manikan, Soldier, Jumper, The Leer Brothers and The Point. In 1985, engineer Jimmy Graham enrolled at the Recording Institute of Detroit to study audio engineering. After graduating recording school as a recording engineer, he was invited to intern at G.F.I. Studios in Rochester New York under record producer Tony Gross, (guitarist for Head East) Upon returning home, he released two national singles, "Going Places"(1987) and "Love that Girl" (1988). Both songs charted on rock and pop radio stations across Canada. The "Love that Girl" single was co-produced by Stacey Heydon (David Bowie, Sheriff, Teenage Head) at the famed Phase One recording studio in Toronto. The recording featured Freddi Curci (lead singer of Sherriff on background vocals), Greg Critchely (drums -Kim Mitchell, Partland Brothers), Bill Kennedy (engineer- Whitesnake) To promote the singles, record producer Jimmy Graham joined the Windsor Ontario band "The Fashion" and began writing more material with the band. Five years of hard work paid off when the band won a "Best of Southern Ontario" band contest. The battle was judged by A&R reps from Warner Brothers and Reprise Records. The 4 song E.P. recording prize was produced and engineered by Jimmy Graham and spun off a local hit single, "Living in the Night". After the Fashion disbanded in 1991, producer engineer remixer Jimmy Graham formed INDEBASEMENT Records and released an industrial style CD under the name of Asylum Choir (Sept 1995). The INDEBASEMENT record release received worldwide attention with its contraversial theme and attained SOCAN docummented airplay in Austrailia, Turkey, Russia, Netherlands,France, Ireland, Germany and the US. The CD debuted at #7 in the top 50 on the Alphabeat Radio network which is broadcast to 14 countries in Europe. The Jimmy Graham solo CD stayed on the charts for over 3 months! Boston's KRM record label also featured 2 cuts from that album and invited Jimmy to play a rare live performance (May 14/1996) at the world famous rock club, MamaKins' (then owned by Aerosmith). Thru the years of 1997-2004, Jimmy built INDEBASEMENT Audio Productions, his Windsor Ontario & Michigan recording studio. He has produced a long line of albums for My October, Julie Kryk, The JumpKats, From The Attic, Lisa Says..., 3:30 Dirteez, Johnny el Camino, Crossworm, Me, Her, & Her, Randy Lee, Big Daddy A & the Merves, Problem to the Solution, The Rockafellas and many more!! As of 2007, producer engineer remixer Jimmy Graham is currently producing artists Tom Brough, Voodoo Mafia, Rit Theme, Tortura as well as producing Website Audio and In-Store Audio Advertising for business clients.
