Bio
This artist goes by the name of 'Stormie'. She is of Waikato and Ngati Porou descent and is a Teacher in a Maori Immersion School by profession. She has been very passionate about music since a very young age. She has grown up in a musical family, and would often watch her mother (who in her time was known as the ‘Manu Tioriori – Song Bird’ of the family), sing and play guitar. It was her mother who inspired and encouraged her to sing. Stormie writes and records her own lyrics and music in both English and Maori. The genre in which she sings is of an R’ n ‘B flavour. Writing and recording her own music has been a goal she has aspired to since the age of five. Finally at twenty nine, she has decided to take a step forward and give it a go. Looking to hook her up with a recording contract either within New Zealand, Australia or the U.S.A. Growing up in South Auckland, with 3 brothers in a working class family inspired her to aim high. She is a young ambitious Maori woman who expresses her dreams through her music. Her piano and her guitar are her release. (These tracks have been recorded for demo purposes only and were prepared within two days, hence the quality) Track number seven was recorded for the NZ Market and is about saving a broken relationship. © Stormie 2007
