Bio
B-Phatz was born in Columbia, SC into a family of versatile hustlers. From birth, his parents raised him in the church, leading him to realize that God has a purpose for everything He creates. Hustle usually breeds hustle, as it did in the case of a young B-Phatz. He was taught what isnt in the textbooks by running the streets with various family members and friends, and learned that being well-rounded was the most efficient way to achieve his dreams. As he grew through high school, he began to evaluate his options. Injuries had put off his college football career. Prolonged illegal activity almost always ends up in prison or death. He decided to go to college anyway, and that the best way to work the system is to learn its rules---in detail. He earned two degrees in criminal justice, and the improved vocabulary he developed helped him greatly when freestyling with family and friends. What started as spontaneous wordplay during ciphers transformed into thought-out testaments on any piece of paper in eyeshot. He began recording tracks at Dimensional Sounds Studios in Tampa, Florida with the help of other talents including producer extraordinaire War, and exceptionally gifted MCs Rosewood, Knomad and Sean Gates. Such was the birth of a microphone monster. His passionate vocals and machine-like attitude in the booth formed his alter ego, The Beast. In a years time he released two mixtapes, each a combination of clever lyrics over classic industry beats and original material. This was 2004. B-Phatz began creating and recording at the rate of a dirty south 2Pac (who is his biggest musical influence, God Bless the dead). He soon had more than enough material for his debut album, Ambition and Drive, which hit the streets in November 2005. From the thought-provoking Dear Uncle Sam to the party-starting Rite Now, this album has something for everyone, just like its author. Variety is part of what makes B-Phatz a remarkable MC; his verbal agility and range help his listeners relate to him and to each other. Be warned if you are a fan of todays stagnant, predictable hip-hop: B-Phatz is coming like hurricane-force winds to rearrange what you are used to.
