Bio

I've been playing and writing songs since I was very young, jamming with my Dad and his band (Black and White Affair), when they would rehearse in our basement. The parents bought an electric piano for me as a child, but I would only noodle on it, no matter how much they wanted me to to be a concert pianist. Years later, after both my Mom and step-brother picked up and put down a hummingbird knock-off that my step-Dad bought for Mom, I took up the guitar as my instrument. A few years later after that, I honed my singing skills. All kinds of music are viable to me. I can, at the least, appreciate where music comes from, regardless of genre or style. If it's heartfelt, and has a modicum of cleverness in the music, lyrics or production, then I enjoy it that much more. As long as it makes me feel. After learning some of the finer points of recording on a 4-track tape recorder, I moved to Vancouver, BC to learn more about the music biz. I took an Audio Engineering class at a now-defunct school where I ended up teaching my classmates what I knew (which wasn't all that much, IMHO) managing the in-school studio. Most of the students that I worked with decided what they wanted to be fairly early, but I figured that I wanted to work with as many different audio situations as possible. So, I made it a point to try many different things: Recording and live sound for varying acts and venues; corporate AV; theatre; IATSE - TV, stage and movies; DJing; and even karaoke hosting(!). I've created my own company to accomadate all of this, but you'll have to ask me about it elsewhere, that's a different biz. The end result is that now I'm getting older and I haven't really put one tenth as much effort into promoting my own music (I've never stopped writing) compared to what I've done for others. I love to help people, especially in music, but now I need the help. So here I am, at the least, trying to see if it's worth it to pare back on what I do for/with others, and start doing more for myself. I really suck at the promotion part, so here I am on SYM. Let me know if any of these wacky tunes (from all over the board, genre-wise) are interesting enough to pursue further. Which ones make you feel SOMETHING? I love them all, so it's hard for me to decide which to keep, and which to keep developing (I have over one hundred recorded).
