He began playing Metallica, Creed and other rock bands. When he turned 18 he bought a Regal Dobro acoustic guitar. Realizing his passion was for country music he began to listen to and play it. His favorite singer and greatest inspiration is George Strait. "His music had so much power and meaning behind them." Shane Lee is quoted saying about George Strait.
