Bio
Some say that money makes the world go round. Some believe that the gangsters are the ones who fulfill this task. Others may even say that the functions of the brain – thinking, learning, and teaching – deserve credit for rotating the globe. Whatever the case may be, PaperBoy is definitely one that will keep it spinning. Born on March 1st 1988, in the small city of Coatesville, a place infamous for its heavy drug trade, Falandez ‘Flok’ James was attracted to music at an early age. While all of the other children played around with toys, Falandez was calmly, and constantly, nodding his head to the tape playing in his walkman; that’s if he wasn’t performing for the family. At the age of five, he recorded his first rap, through the headphones plugged up to an old record / tape player, which his Grandmother still owns. As Falandez grew older, his passion for music also went through major growth. At the tender age of eleven, he started crafting complete songs. With the help partner-in-rhyme iSH.dOT (Treach-Raw at the time), PaperBoy (Flok-Dollaz at the time), the pair recorded their first full album, Symphony of Chaos. Shortly after, iSH.dOT was placed in a maximum security juvenile facility, which left PaperBoy on his own. In 2001, Flok linked up with a team by the name of G.H.T. During the span of about 1 year and 1/2, G.H.T. flooded the whole Chester County with a string of mixtapes of raw material. These mixtapes and many local battle victories would go on to make Flok a hood favorite within the rap scene. He also caught the eye of fellow Coatesville musicians, 50/50 L.G. CEO, DJ Dre-Money and R.I.C.O. a/k/a Francis Fire of C.V., who he would eventually team up with in the future. Like most mothers, Flok’s mother tried her hardest to guide her son along the right path and keep the streets out of his visibility and reach. But with three uncles driving fancy cars while draped in expensive jewelry and clothes, which didn’t come from nine to fives, it was only natural that the allure of this lifestyle would clutch onto him eventually. At 15, Flok caught his first case for possessing a firearm. Not even8a year later, he caught another case for aggravated assault. This was a sign to fall back from the streets and get focused, and this was exactly what he did. Not only did Falandez become more focused musically, but he even started getting more into his schooling. After parting ways with G.H.T., PaperBoy joined forces with 50/50 L.G. and C.V. and released his first official mixtape “The Introduction of Flok-Dollaz”, which gained a little buzz in the southeastern region of PA. Creative Writing and Entrepreneurship classes helped to strengthen his songwriting and business skills. He applied all of these skills to release his second mixtape in August 2005, by the alias PaperBoy, which added a little more to the buzz. A month after the release of Paper Route: The Mixtape, PaperBoy started attending Saint Joseph’s University, where he chose to be a business major. Here he absorbed all he could about all aspects of business and applied it to his music. When he felt as though he learned enough to move forward that’s exactly what he did. Now, with a master business plan in mind and on paper, his past behind him, future in front of him, a record label (Black Hoody Entertainment) on his shoulders, another pending case over his head, two solo mixtapes along with four complete college semesters under his belt, it is the perfect time for PaperBoy to introduce himself to the world that he is sure to keep spinning. With a debut album (Paper Route: The Hustler’s Manual), on the way and a second one already in the making, PaperBoy believes that it is his time, and within the next year the streets and the industry will both be able to confirm that.
