Bio
Dante aka Dough Boyy is a native New Yorker. Born and raised in Farragut Projects, his grandmother taught him at the young age of six that writing was a way to get his feelings out. He started keeping journals then and has been doing it ever since. Dough relocated to Brownsville, NY when he was 13 years old, being in a strange place, not knowing anyone, starting his teenage life all over again, making new acquaintances and everyday life experiences would prove to be his greatest musical motivation. That was the point when writing in a journal changed into writing lyrics. Dough’s music would be included in the Hip-Hop, Rap and R&B genre. His greatest influences include, but are by no means limited to Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Eric B and Rakim, Gangstar, Naughty by Nature and Nice and Smooth. His music is really and expression of himself, his feelings, his thoughts, his trials and tribulations. Listening to these influential lyricists growing up made him realize that music was a way for him to express himself in a way that everyday conversation could not. His journey really began in 2003 when he could be heard Tuesday nights on the local Wilkes University radio station 90.7 spitting live freestyles with hosts Moe and Destro aka Type Ill. Dough has been working hard to get his music heard ever since. In late July 2006 Dough was an opening performer for Styles P at a concert hosted by the River Street Jazz Café in Wilkes-Barre, PA. On Thursday, May 3rd 2007, Dough was interviewed live by DJ Ooh Wee on local Kings College radio station 88.5 WRKC. DJ Ooh Wee had been showcasing Dough’s music on the show every Thursday from 4 to 7 pm for several weeks saying, “Folks, this is what I would have to refer to as an overnight celebrity!” DJ Big Maulik, who hosts a show on the University of Scranton radio station WUSR FM 99.5, has also been showcasing Dough’s music on his Saturday night spot from 10 pm to 2 am. Dough’s management is currently in the hands of himself and his wife. Dante Campbell and Heather Hurrell are the two person team behind Head Crack Entertainment. The company was established in March 2007 and is owned and operated by the two. Heather’s current projects include local promotion, as well as spreading his music outside of Northeast PA. She has been sending Dough’s demo CD’s to local clubs and radio stations, college radio included. She has also sent them to radio stations and DJ’s in several states across the U.S. Heather created and manages the company’s website. She handles the business end of things so Dough can focus on his music. Dough stays hard at work writing and working in the studio, his focus is always on the music and live appearances. Dough has many contacts locally and built up a great fan base in a very short period of time. Dough’s current projects include Dough’s video for the single “All We Do”. New York based director Picture Perfect directed the video. It will appear on the May 07 edition of Real Talk DVD, a series of DVD’s that showcase up and coming artists. Dough Boyy will be appearing on the June 07 edition of Hood Promo DVD, the Scranton based director has been quoted as stating, “The hood welcomes you, you are the streets that keep the hood alive" www.myspace.com/doughboyy07hce www.soundclick.com/doughboyy www.xampy.com/doughboyy
