Bio
Dj Tod, based in Berlin (D), born in Nish (SER) started learning to play the piano and listening to classical music and jazz at the age of eight. At thirteen, he started collecting popular rap, soul, dance, pop and house records, bought his first CD player, professional cassette decks, created a studio for music recording, and played music at private parties and coffee bars. Soon, he tried to realize some of his own innovation and advanced music ideas on personal keyboards and on the first professional computer with audio-track support, Atari FALCON. When fifteen, he practised and recorded his first music mixes and became resident DJ at the largest disco in his native town. At the same time, he played the piano and keyboards in a band called "Fama" where he encountered jazz-rock, psychedelic, spiritual and experimental, free sound which allowed him his first spiritual experiences and visionary dreams. With this band he arrived at the underground and jazz clubs, music festivals, and on TV. Some of his studio-made recordings are at the top of the charts on main radio stations in the country at the moment. Because of the lack of technical support, he was then forced to leave pop production and got engaged in spiritual and musical improvement by playing the instrument in the band and individually. He started to prefer acoustic jazz and free jazz even more and he meets Keith Jarrett's music which changes his life. An avant-garde jazz trumpet player Don Cherry also had had a great influence on his life style. Furthermore, he directed and shaped all of his newly-discovered creative energy through an individual relation, and played on the instrument of the above mentioned performer. He has perfected his playing the trumpet but his main concerns are jazz and the classical piano, which is why he has entered a jazz academy in Austria as an outstanding talent, where he is studying and playing jazz, listening to and learning about all kinds of music and composing himself. Apart from unforgettable classical music, unsurpassed lyricism, romanticism and impressionism of Keith Jarrett, Bobo Stenson and Charles Lloyd, he finds his everlasting inspiration and satisfaction in harmony, style and limitless, ultimate as well as global, solar energy of progressive black jazz performers which has definitely brought to his own purpose and style: -McCoy Tyner, Kenny Kirkland, Branford Marsalis, Elvin Jones, Jeff "Tain" Watts… -Favorite jazz albums: Keith Jarrett "Bye, Bye Blackbird", Brad Mehldau "Songs", Ralph Towner "Works", Don Cherry " Art Deco", Dave Holland "Extensions", Charles Lloyd "Fish out of Water", Chick Corea "Where Have I Known You Before", Chick Corea "Remembering Bud Powell", McCoy Tyner "Prelude and Sonata", Branford Marsalis "Requiem", Branford Marsalis "Dark Keys", Winton Marsalis "Black Codes", Jeff Tain Watts "Citizen Tain", Ingrid Jensen "Vernal Fields"... Berlin has offered him special experience as he has there performed as a jazz & funk musician at underground clubs, finally completed his present music & dj studio and returned again to do music production. At the same time he cooperated and played in the most important Serbian Hip-Hop band "De-Fence" with whom performed at the music festival EXIT 05, NS. One more time in electronic kind of music, above everything else, he definitely has found a parallel to his acoustic experience, unique and irreplaceable direction which leads into the future and follows new dimensions and spheres of a new millennium man, progressive and simultaneously aboriginal, tribal energy of house music. He actively performs on German and Serbian DJ scene and he is the host for Dark Energy on (www.tribalmixes.org) where he plays with famous progressive DJ's and producers such as: Dj Taucher, Eric Entrena, Eelke Kleijn, Progressive Thrust, Sergio Fernandez, Amir Sharara, Thomas Penton …
