About BIG HOUSE Hometown: DODGE CITY, PA Genres: Hip Hop Label: W.S.M.P Records Members: big house one man gang Damon L. Blackshear, better known as Big House, was born in Canton, Ohio and raised in New Castle, Pa.. As a young boy, Big House had dreams of being a professional football player or famous rapper, and he began to hone his lyrical skills at the age of 14. “I rapped about gangster stuff…how hot I was, how many mc's I was better than,” House says. But upon giving his life to Christ, at age 33, his focus changed from fortune, fame, and women to serving and ministering the Gospel. Big House recognized that all of his life should be centered around Christ. “One day, I just decided, I’m only doing hip hop that glorifies God. Rappers like Lecrae, Trip Lee and Da Truth helped provide a model for how I would begin to do that,” he says. He also had an immense desire to learn the Word of God. In 2009, Big House began speaking regularly to Minister Shawn Anderson at Prevailing Word World Outreach Center; months later, after talking and building with each other, Minister Anderson & Pastor Matthew Bupp began to disciple him .... Big House was given some finacial backing from Minister Anderson and with that, he released his debut Gosspel album, “H.O.U.S.E of God,” it hit digital distributers nationwide. His first full-length album introduced hip-hop fans to his distinct bi-coastal sound, unique delivery and gospel-saturated lyrics. With his second Gospel Album slated for release late 2012 Since his first album release, Big House has traveled doing concerts for listeners, and his last two summers have been spent sharing his gifts with numerous youth groups and church programs. His Christ-centered hip-hop message has also built a platform for him among churches and other Christian organizations, which has led to numerous opportunities to share his testimony and gifts at inner city youth events. Big House now resides in New Castle, PA with his wife and four daughters and is currently enrolled in Manna From Heaven School of Ministry headed by the honorable Apostle David M. Young Sr. senior Pastor and founder of Prevailing Word World Outreach Center. He is a member of The Scion Group and works in the audio/ visual department at Prevailing Word World Outreach Center in New Castle, Pa., where he also shares his gifts when called upon. Ultimately, his desire is proclaim the grace and beauty of Jesus Christ to anyone that will listen.
