Bio
JO KING Singer/Songwriter Growing up in Natchez, MS, I was always fascinated watching my mother play the guitar, and her sisters playing the piano, as they were joined by their two brothers creating great harmonies with their vocals. They were a very gifted family with strong gospel roots. I formed an A-Capella group in the 8th grade calling it The Mustang 5, and competed in local talent shows. I Was the lead vocalist for a local group, in Natchez, called The Soul Morticians, until joining the military in 1969, and was replaced by a 15 year old known to us as Alexander Oneal. In New Orleans, I sung in my church choir until 1978, when a friend and I organized a group called Mark IV. The name was later changed to DeSire, performing the sounds of Motown. Our first single was released in 1981 entitled, I Dont Care, and Feed on The Groove. In 1988 thru 1991 , I organized a show group with two of my brothers and a female vocalist and were called Below Zero. 1993 thru 1995, I joined a vocal group called 3 Smooth, and recorded a Cassette single entitled Jump On It. Nov 2001 - Present - I joined Shades Of Praise The New Orleans Interracial Gospel Choir, grounded in music and faith. We have performed in many local settings. Recorded the Spirit of Louisiana commercial channel 4 WWL TV. We have toured Ireland giving 9 concerts in 12 days. and recorded numerous CDs. Inspired by my love for Christ, I have recorded my first solo gospel CD entitled; Im Amazed(How Much Jesus Loves Me). It was released March 06, 2012. My current project entitled Glory Honor & Power was released June 28, 2014.Through Christ, I have been given the clarity of mind to know my true purpose, which is to serve God and lift His name on high.
