GroovProject, a fusion jazz project, has just released their 3rd independent CD, entitled "Electric Vibes" which was produced and engineered by Donovan Henderson. Donovan, born and raised in Kingston, NY, created the project back in 2006. Currently, he resides in Atlanta, GA where he runs his own recording label which was recently signed to a five year distribution deal with KVZ Music out of Austria. The GroovProject is Donovan Henderson (drums), Marc Clay (rhodes), Memphis Williams (bass), Kevin Tanner (percussion and horns), Marvin Terrell (piano), Will Richardson and Neil Pethel (guitars). They are joined on two tracks by special guest, Reyes Torres, III on guitars and Dawn McClain is featured on vocals on the song, "This Ain't Love". Also, Lou Valle and Melvin Byrd (The Great Donald Byrd's nephew) were featured on horns on the song, "Natural High". The CD also includes Isaac West from the Sonny Emory Band, on bass on songs, "Electric Vibes", and "Downloads, Uploads". The CD "Electric Vibes" is a follow up to the GP's second album from 2007 called "The Life, The Loss, The Love". The new CD documents the growth the band has gone through during the past two years and illustrates the cohesive, passionate playing with oozing cinergy throughout the entire project. All songs are originals written by Donovan Henderson and a group of talented writers, Marc Clay, Memphis Williams and Dawn McClain. The addition of Torres on songs, "Downloads, Uploads" and "What It Is", adds fire and depth to the band and he fits perfectly with the exploratory nature of the project.
