Bio
Born in Tennessee and coming from a musical family, Stan's dad played professionally for many years, Stan grew up listening to his dad playing mostly bluegrass and gospel with whoever came round to play, bringing another guitar Fiddle or banjo, giving Stan many wonderful memories of a childhood home filled with the wonder that was Music. Stan started learning Guitar as a small child, his mom teaching him his first 2 songs, but, living on an isolated farm in a rural area, had to wait until he was 16 to begin playing in a band. Stan has played with many bands, the first being called Midnight Special that began playing local venues and grew into a successful band in the area, with members like Dwight Bradshaw of the Smoky Mountain Boys, and drummer Danny Seagle of the Toy Factory band, with Toy and Tommy Caldwell, the band that became the Marshall Tucker Band. Most recently Stan recorded what will be the album entitled Peace Pipe, at Mira Vista Studios in Tampa Florida with ex Outlaws band guitarist Steve Grisham, and Ghost Riders band Drummer Pug Baker. Stan played with many other people and bands such as the Young Bloods, (70’s) Curious George (80’s) Played for a bit with friend and an ex bass player for Kool and The Gang, and even some bluegrass bands in Tennessee , but never seeming to be in the right place at the right time, the band to create new original music with, and gradually, regretfully letting his music take a backseat to day job work, like becoming an electronics technician and finally finishing his apprenticeship in machining and ultimately becoming a mold maker machinist. Influenced by The Eagles, Skynyrd, FogHat and friend lonesome Dave Peverett, Journey, Bad Company, Jackson Browne, Waylon Jennings, Pink Floyd, Ghost Riders, Barry Lee Harwood, and the Rossington Collins Band, Jackson Brown, Blackfoot, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Alice in Chains, Travis Tritt and many other classic rock and southern rock artists. Stan has developed his own Style of guitar playing that started with learning finger picking styles such as the “Travis style” as a child and has over the years evolved into playing with his fingers but getting the attack and tonal qualities usually associated with a pick or plectrum, but of course he still uses a pick sometimes. Stans musical style varies through several different genres some of the music does not even really fit into any existing genre, but has been well received by his audiences. Returning to the music scene from a long hiatus. Stan is joining up part time with the Bobby G Blues Band and hopefully soon will be performing in the Western NC Tennessee and Florida regions.
