Minusthe was formed when the year 2007's winter has just began unfolding its chill - on the 13th day of November. It was an unexpected array of events that unfolded resulting in the formation of the band. Shark and Myth were looking for a drummer to participate in a local festival. After a few turns and knocks, they met Syd. Though nothing was clear or final at that moment, a different story began later on. After a few jam sessions in a house numbered the 13th [pure coincidence] they decided to hit it off for the aforesaid festival. A few odd covers [from Motorhead to Bryan Adams - played in their own style & technique] and some scratchy originals were their initial set-list. Following this, Minusthe played one more local festival but the middling performance of the band and the lack of polish in the originals struck the three lads in their asses. They didn't want to be just a name in the local scene and so they decided to call it a hiatus. A state of self-induced coma, where they would be musically active yet refrain from performing live. So began the most creative year of Minusthe in hibernation. And during this year old period they have come to acknowledge their own creativity and have replenished the same on a record. The main musical influences of the band are but a collective of all the three members. Shark listens to almost everything, but his primary influences are 80's goth, classic , Type O Negative and Sepultura. Myth on the other hand had a notion for progressive music, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree and the trash titans Megadeth, Metallica. Syd was mostly into the 'new wave' of metal. Slipknot, Meshuggah, Gojira, Textures were his influences. Type o negative was an inspiration too. But the band that Minusthe looks up to is Opeth. Anathema too played a pivotal role. So now, after this long year of underground existence they have come up with their debut album. A vivid journey of highs and lows of emotions. The album is titled "Expression Of Depression " . A release this year end is a possibility. We await in anticipation...[b]
