Nine vibrant young people have formed the group, “Bella Vocè Africa” (Beautiful Voices of Africa). This group has a unique style of singing. From the basis of classical training, they have put together different musical products. Description of musical style: New classical mix, such as Carmen mix, Neapolitan songs and own compositions. Beautiful classical tones, with mixed “house” beat, influences of Kwaito and traditional rhythms and harmony. A truly excellent African product. Well known tunes such as “O sole mio”, “Funniculi” and “La Spagnola” are presented in a creative new arrangement. Sylvia Blangwe, one of Bella Vocè Africa’s sopranos, performed at a private function with 1000 invited guests at Mr Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday Celebration held in Cape Town on 18 July 2008. Amongst the guests at the function were Oprah Winfrey, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Minister Tokyo Sexwale and other high profile delegates. Sylvia performed several solos during this performance. Bella Vocè Africa has also performed for the ANC President, Mr Jacob Zuma during a private function. Some high profile guests who attended Bella Vocè Africa’s performances at the Palace Hotel, Sun City, include Oprah Winfrey, Nelson Mandela and his wife, Graca Machel, Gary Player, the Queen of Swaziland, top government officials / ministers as well as numerous CEO’s of major international companies. Bella Vocè Africa performed at the 2008 Miss World Pageant (Entabeni Golf Estate), Nedbank Million Dollar Golf Tournament (Sun City), Black Book Function (Sun City’s Exclusive Function for top 200 Businessmen Worldwide), the Hilton Hotel (Sandton) Christmas Lunch for 300 guests, and many more. The group has been performing every weekend at Crystal Court, Palace Sun City since September 2008. Bella Vocè Africa also performed as “The Voices” in the very successful music production, TIMELESS, featuring well know arists, Jannie Moolman, Rina Hugo, Kevin Leo, Arina de Witt, Andrè Schwartz and a live band. Invitations to perform internationally during 2009 and 2010 have been received from the United Kingdom, India, Iran, United States of America, Sweden, France and Romania. The group toured London from 11 June until 12 July 2009. Performances included high profile events such as Head & Neck Cancer Research Trust Dinner at Westminster Abbey, Irish Rugby Union Benefit Dinner, The Benchmark Sport Awards, The British Travel Market Launch on invitation of the Lord Mayor of London, Beyond Sport Foundation Dinner, Beyond Sport Summit (hosted by the former Prime Minister of Brittain, Tony Blair, with special guests: Sir Richard Branson (Virgin Group), Bishop Desmond Tutu, Prince Hussein of Jordan, Boris Johnson (Mayor of London), and other celebs), GMR Group Corporate Function and various others.
