Stinky & The Rabbits… Conceptualized and birthed March 2007, in one of the weirdest places in Europe you can stumble upon lost and weary- Sarajevo. Sarajevo is geographically located in the Balkans, politically broken and war ravaged. Artistically flourishing, historically part of Yugoslavia (modern history), demographically called European Jerusalem and contemporary remembered after the recent wars and major political corruptions. All three members of Stinky & The Rabbits are from Stockholm/Sweden, but found that the post-war society of Sarajevo was highly inspiring and impressive on their musical creativity, spirits and beliefs. Highly influenced and infected by the indescribable spirit felt in Sarajevo, they decided to make their own private “spiting pot” (Think Lucky Luke), where they could feel free to say what ever they want, about anyone and anything they wanted to, without turning the whole concept into a gentrified tabloid. They decided to call that little pot Stinky & The Rabbits. Because of their strong believes in life, its irony and the idea of recognition of hopelessness in a hopeful state, their music progressed from being merely fuelled by anger felt towards the new world order, strong disappointments and basic mistrust in human nature to a more worldly and diverse attitude - they felt that it was time to grow up, face the facts, swallow it, make a point and then laugh at it. If Bono couldn’t save the world, how can we?! Musically with backgrounds in Punk Rock, Rock N’ Roll, Hard Core, Jazz, etc, they naturally didn’t feel like fitting in only one genre. With music preferences rooted in the anarchistic Punk message they decided to make music they would like to hear on the radio, instead of the churned out droll currently on. Stinky & The Rabbits started as a three-piece Electric band but very soon turned into a quartet with ambition to become an Electric orchestra. Using the local Sarajevo talents/musicians/artists to help them finish their first masterpiece album called “Small, Thin but SOFT”, Stinky & The Rabbits stepped into a new territory unknown to them at that time. They decided to go little bit further than just a band with a “Great” album and R’N R see-through/know it all attitude. With time the idea progressed from music to a way of living. They became conscious about their unconsciousness. They realized that their way of living and their individual pasts are strongly connected to their traveling and migrating around the world. With backgrounds in Sweden, Portugal, Italy, Bosnia, Serbia and Tunis, life’s ebbs and flows took them to meet up and travel between Sweden, Australia, USA, Bosnia and Serbia. Diversity in the face of Adversity. They see themselves as rock n’ roll nomads with no sense of belonging, other than to themselves and ideals and cultures that resonate deep within them. PS: The name Stinky & The Rabbits has no other meaning than “Sounds cool, man” FX, but as soon as we come with some good explanation we’ll change this statement.
