Kevin Piper and Mark Luebbers are a couple of "good ol' boys" that met up quite a few years ago and formed one of the hottest country music groups that ever hit southern Illinois. Along with drummer Lance Weil and some other friends "Cuttin' Loose" was born. It wasn't long before everyone was talking about the "must see" band with great singers, amazing musicians, super songs and one of the best stage shows anyone would want to see. They had it all. Success continuted to bring great promise for the band. Little did they know that someone else had a different plan for their lives. God had been watching all along and eventually brought some great changes to their hearts and sense of purpose. Their collective Christian backgrounds and new found love of the Gospel were just as good of a match as their love of country music. The boys became members of the "Elkville Christian Church" in Elkville, IL and committed their lives and talents as a blessing to God's people. They continued to develop with added singers and musicians causing a buzz with the local folks in the region and soon the church was bursting at the seams. Everyone wanted to come and hear the good music... Kevin, Mark and Lance left "Cuttin' Loose" and now spend their time and efforts writing and producing original Christian music along with remakes of classic hymns that keeps people clapping their hands and patting their feet to the infectious country, bluegrass, and R&B sounds of "BLEST." Their first CD recording "Surrender ALL" is a collection of original songs by Kevin and Mark, with a few songs written by Kevin's brother, gospel singer/songwriter Jerry Piper Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK. Their songs feature a unique "country swing" sound that is rarely heard in this business. Listen to songs like "When Mama Prays" and "I Was Lost" or "Narrow Road" to get the feel for what these guys do so very well. But their backgrounds also are full of the richness of gutsy, bluesy R&B styles that will be sure to grab you as you listen to "Stop, Drop and Roll." "One Step" is a great song that shines on it's own merit from the "Surrender ALL" CD. Currently, Kevin and Mark are working on the release of a new CD that's guaranteed to please titled "Come Let Us Worship the Lord" and YOU will be the first to hear it on this website. Truth be told... these boys can sing. Kevin sings country with as much precision as the best in the business and throws in some riffs that demonstrates his love of vintage Motown soul. Mark has a deep rich smooth mellow voice that will cause some to remember why Merle Haggard was loved by so many. Listen for yourself... their music will do exactly what good gospel music is meant to do, like wake up the joy on the inside, put a smile on your face, a tear of gratitude in your eye and hope in your heart. Enjoy Kevin Piper and Mark Luebbers and see if you don't agree with me that they are certainly somethin' special... and "BLEST"! Written with love by someone who knows...
