Bio
Shameful Behaviour is a band with attitude and a mission. That mission is to spread real rock music back to the masses. The music is a combination of great pumping Original Rock & Metal with songs that tell a story and have meaning with face-melting lead guitar, just as it should be and hasn't been for a long time, mixed with an occasional classic cover that blends invisibly with the rest of the material. Shameful Behaviour is made up of… Mark Simpson - Mark is a songwriter and a British guitar hero for the 21st century in the style of the old school guitar heroes from the past. With many years playing pubs and clubs in different bands Mark honed his style to its powerful heights. Influenced by all the greats! $lick has also Jammed with Noel Redding and with EC when he was only 14. Currently abusing: Dean Guitars, Rotosound strings and his long suffering Marshall Amps. I have to admit that over the past couple of weeks I have been a little bit p####d off. Usually when I’m like this I reach for the nearest extreme metal album, throw it on and unleash my anger that way. This time was a little different since I’d been planning to review this EP by Shameful Behaviour… and strangely enough, it provided me with the perfect cure. As far as image is concerned, Shameful Behaviour look a lot like KISS – just check out their photos on their MySpace page – but musically you get a lot more than that. Listening to this 5 track EP I was reminded of legendary bands such as Cream, Thin Lizzy and Jimi Hendrix... with a fresh twist. The EP kicks off with a track called "Big Brother". It’s a mid to fast paced rocker which I’d imagine to be quite a hit at gigs. While this is a good song, personally I would not have chosen to open the EP with it… instead I’d choose to open it with "Insanity Rising". "Insanity Rising" has a fantastic opening riff and the vocals are incredibly catchy. Listen to this track a couple of times and then try to get the song out of your head. Try it… it won’t work. The lead guitar nods to the genius of Zakk Wylde – purely for the odd squealed harmonic here and there. This is good, honest rock n' roll – just how I like it! Next up is "Stepping Stone" which is my favourite track on this EP. I just cannot find a fault with it. It makes me smile, it’s got a great hook and I can sing along! "Screwed Up" sounds like the kind of song that the crowd claps along to at gigs. I would clap along to it now, but I’m afraid that the other people in my office would decide that I’m definitely insane and commit me to the nearest asylum. The final track, "Killjoys", was a little bit of a grower for me. On my first listen to the EP I thought it was 'alright' but now – after a few listens – it’s one of my favourites. The lyrics are absolutely spot on and if you at least tap your foot while listening to it I shall just presume that you are dead – haha! Overall, this is a 'must have' for anyone into the Classic Rock sound. Shameful Behaviour have provided us with 5 well written songs that deserve to be listened to. On a slightly more random note, I’ve been watching a lot of 'Supernatural' lately. Fans of the show will know that Dean (one of the main characters) is a HUGE fan of Classic Rock and many Classic Rock tracks have been featured on the show. I can easily imagine at least 3 of these songs on that show... Tracks: 01 Big Brother 02 Insanity Rising 03 Stepping Stone 04 Screwed Up 05 Killjoys A further review of our live album has also materialised... By Loucifer Speaks .com I recently reviewed the EP by Shameful Behaviour and now I'm going to tell you about the live album. One thing that I really enjoyed about the "Get Shameful" EP was the almost live feel to it and because of that, I felt that I had a pretty good idea of what Shameful Behaviour were like live... and I was right! This album gives you that brilliant feeling of being at a gig... all that’s needed is a drink in your hand. Live albums are always a little worrying for me. Most of the time I will only buy one if I really like the band, and then (if that’s the case) I will already own most (if not all) of the songs on the CD in the 'normal' format anyway and if I don’t really like the band then I probably won’t buy the live album… which seems pretty reasonable to me. Luckily enough – even though I don’t know Shameful Behaviour's stuff all that well – "Warts 'N' All – Live" found its way into my hands. While it may not be up to the standards of Iron Maiden’s "Live After Death" as far as live albums go it does an astounding job of introducing you to the band. You get to hear some fantastic Shameful Behaviour tracks; such as "Insanity Rising", "Stepping Stone" (both from the EP), "Painted Lady" and "Get Away" – along with some excellent cover versions ("Word Up" and "Rock And Roll All Nite"). These cover versions ensure that you have something to relate to even if you’ve never listened to the band before. The quality of the recording is excellent and every instrument and vocal can be heard clearly. I would have preferred some more 'crowd noise', but little-to-none is better than overwhelming screaming. Overall, this album is a fantastic way to get to know Shameful Behaviour... and it has also made me want to get to one of their gigs. So, hopefully there will be a live review coming to the site fairly soon! I really look forward to hearing a 'proper' full length from these guys. This CD is perfect for putting you in a party mood!
