Singer/Songwriter MaryJayne (born Jayne Ruddy) is no stranger to the world of music. Since the age of 4, she has loved to sing almost anything she heard, and she wrote her first song at age 7. She grew up in a musical family in Northern California—her mother Milann is a talented Blues singer and her father Michael plays excellent guitar, among other instruments. Listening to all different genres, she developed a great passion for R&B, Soul, Jazz, and Blues, with influences ranging from Billie Holiday and Stevie Wonder to Sade or Aaliyah Jayne spent most of her childhood and young adult life involved in any type of activity where she could sing—musical theater, choir, singing with her mother’s band, you name it. She knew that she would eventually pursue a career in the Entertainment Industry. Finally in 2000, she decided to pursue a music career further than just singing others’ material locally, and she started working with other musicians to create original songs. Jayne (since then known as MaryJayne by her musical peers) has been featured on many solo MCs' and Hip Hop groups’ albums (writing and singing choruses/verses), such as Dymez, Cleetus Kasiody, James Stewart, United MCs, Thunder Hut, and Sean Blak. She is also working with a number of talented producers for upcoming solo projects, including B. Mock of The Experts, Rasheen & Sudan Life of The Nightshift, Beatiful out of the UK, Lucky of The Mood Doctors, Neil fa Real, Choco, Reminisce, Majik Mike, Kne-Ochaw Hampton, and Logic. She also had the wonderful opportunity to sing with her mother and Blues artist C.P. Love at the New Orleans Jazz Festival in 2002. Her first project, which is due out Summer of 2007, is a full Hip Hop and R&B collaboration effort between MaryJayne and Axel Foely (of United MCs), featuring various talented local MCs and vocalists including several solo tracks by MaryJayne. Soon after that, she will be releasing her Debut Solo album, yet to be titled. In between writing and recording, you can find MaryJayne at various Bay Area venues performing her original solo material, as well as with many of the acts with which she collaborates.
