From the North West comes this energetic four piece with a truly original sound. On listening to Jelly\'s Last Jam, or even watching them perform live, the lack of electric guitars almost goes unnoticed as they storm through their set of fast paced indie pop, which leaves the listener breathless. Lead singer Paul Byrne is a true rock star in the making, with faultless high-energy performances that suit his powerful vocal chords perfectly. Backed up by the stomping awe inspiring piano stylings of Rob Tryner, the pumping masterful bass playing of Martin Clarke and with furious drumming from powerhouse Andy Lyth this band display an awesome capacity for entertainment, making audience members exclaim \"How are they still unsigned?!\" The birth of Jelly\'s Last Jam takes us back to Spring 2005, when three of the lads were living together above The Mitre Tavern, once the hub of Preston\'s music scene. Martin, Rob and Andy had been playing together backing a singer songwriter for four years and yearned for something different, exciting and fresh. They found exactly what they were looking for in Paul Byrne. The band first jammed together during a singers night at The Mitre, when they improvised a 12 minute blues number, and immediately clicked with their new singer, moving onto their first rehearsals the very next day. So excited were they that they booked their first gig immediately, and rushed to complete writing a brand new set of songs to debut to an excited audience at The Mill in Preston. The gig was a resounding success, one reviewer describing Paul as a fantastic showman with a voice to match and predicting that ‘Jelly\'s Last Jam have a great deal to offer the city\'s music scene’ (Listen Up North West). Since then it has been two years of craziness, playing a host of weird and wonderful gigs, supporting the likes of ska legends ‘The Beat’, the infamous ‘James Taylor Quartet’, indie rock giants ‘The Bluetones’ to name but a few. May 2007 saw JLJ playing to a packed University of Central Lancashire student union (53 Degrees) for Radio One’s ‘One Big Fringe’ whilst in November the band headlined their first showstopping gig at Manchester\'s Academy 3. The bands reputation has been enforced with accolades in national magazines ‘Webuser’ (where the band was featured as ‘unsigned band of the week’) and ‘Music Week’ (JLJ track ‘All The Glory’ was added to the Music Week playlist, leading to demo requests from many major record labels), as well as cementing their reputation as a live force to be reckoned with, with impressive shows at 53 Degrees (UCLAN Student’s Union) and other venues across the UK. The band also have a reputation for creating entertaining and amusing music videos (the video for JLJ slacker classic ‘Johnny’s Break from Suburbia’ was screened on Manchester’s Big Screen at the Exchange Square) in addition to creating a series of over 30 \'video diaries\', the results of which have been released by the band on a DVD. Jelly\'s Last Jam anticipate 2008 to be their busiest year yet and, with your help, their most successful!
