Bio
Three of Maeran's CD's are available totally free through their website at Woven Wheat Whispers. Take a look on their Free Music Page! This is done in support of their own charity initiative 'Pass It On Music'. Dom and Steve make no profit from their music and all CD's are available for absolutely nothing. Maeran formed in 1982. Dom and Steve met at Liverpool University and have been writing, recording and performing ever since. They originally performed covers of Simon-Garfunkel songs, but soon began producing their own original blend of folk/folk rock music combining unique melodies, captivating vocal and instrumental arrangements and powerful poignant lyrics that challenge people to listen to what they have to say. Long time songwriters and performers, Steve and Dom didn't really get into producing their own work as albumns until recently. Well that's not strictly true! They did produce an early albumn on tape entitled 'Favourite Person, Favourite Place', which had some excellent compositions on it, but which was all recorded live and suffered from lack of facilities and money. A second albumn, 'Ten Comma Waltz', was better produced, but both albumns suffered the fate of much innovative music...it was too imaginative and meaningful to make some money grasping, narrow minded record company lots of cash! Dom and Steve are renowned for the originality of their compositions and especially their unique and captivating Christmas music. They are one of a small collective of songwriters who still pursue the ancient tradition of writing carols that reflect their culture and national traditions. Their most recent Christmas CD 'Winter Song' can be downloaded free at Woven Wheat Whispers. (For more info. see the bottom of this profile.) In addition to their music both Dom and Steve are published writers. Steve has written a delightful Christmas story entitled 'The Tale Of Was-ale and Yule-tide' (Trafford Books) and has verse included in a newly published book, 'Near Restful Waters'. He has also recently had published a wonderful book entitled 'The Sacramental Cat' a real must for spiritual cat lovers! Dom has poetry included in a new anthology of Poetry, 'Midnight Thoughts', through Dogma Publications. Visit us at [link="http://wovenwheatwhispers.co.uk"]Woven Wheat Whispers[/link] and [link="http://www.maeranfolk.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk"]Maeran Folk Music[/link]
