Bio
The Beginning At a very early age Wil decided he wanted to be a musician, he fed his desires by pretending to be a rock star using a shovel as a guitar & blasting the radio. At the age of 13 he received his first guitar and was writing his first songs and in his first band by 16. At age 17 he began playing bass & singing back-up vocals in Pie-Raid, it was in this band that he began performing live shows. Raindance was founded in the bayou city in 1997 after the demise of Bad Influence. After this latest in a long line of band failures, Wil decided to start recording a CD on his own & afterwards look for band members to play a wide variety of rock ‘n’ roll styles based on blues, 50’s-60’s rock, modern/alternative rock, and sometimes even country or jazz. USA Upon the completion of the demo CD Shake It Baby!! Wil found members for the band’s first line-up & began Raindance playing shows in Texas. Soon after the re-release of the CD, the bend suffered the first of many losses & member changes. During the last of the Houston shows a live CD was recorded while Wil was working on material for the next CD. Central Asia/Former USSR Wil arrived in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Thanksgiving Day 2000 - no turkey, no dressing, and no pie. The first Christmas was hard; so very different from home. It was on this basis that he began writing Christmas Halfway Around the World. It was originally meant to be the only Christmas song, but things flowered and four more songs were written and he recorded the EP with only the aid of a saxophone player featured on a Rock ‘n’ Roll rendition of ‘Silent Night’. Several interviews and live on air performances were done, and songs from the first 2 CDs were played on Radio Tashkent and 101.5 Radio Grande. The band gradually became more popular in Central Asia. Again Raindance added new members. With this new lineup, Raindance played several private shows, a party for the Tashkent Open tennis tournament, the German Embassy, and several events for the Hotel Inter-Continental. After losing their lead guitarist Raindance began recording their full length follow-up to Shake It Baby!!, Schmeckt Gut. The band hosted the first open mic night in the central Asian region of the former USSR until their drummer moved to Europe as a Jewish Immigrant and had to be replaced. Europe & Back to the USA Due to a constantly changing line-up and personal, and financial hardships; July 29, 2003 marked the end of Raindance. Wil has now returned to the USA where he performs with various bands as a fill in vocalist & plays acoustic performances, but returns to Europe yearly.
