[b][color="darkblue"][/color]Rick Bone and Broken Feather Music About Multiple Sclerosis - Music for A Cure I would like to tell you the story of musical hope. Let me start by introducing you to Rick Bone. Rick is a musician and songwriter who has been writing songs for almost thirty years. He started out with small bands and writing a few of his own songs. But home life came first, so he gave it up to raise his family. In 1999, Rick was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and his increasing disability finally led to an early retirement from his job. ------------------------------------- His biggest fear was not being able to play the guitar anymore, as he lost the feeling in his hands and could no longer sing as well as he used to. This didn’t give him much hope in making his dream come true. ------------------------------------- However, friends and loved ones encouraged him and helped him believe in himself .. so Rick started writing songs once more. But the songs were of a different nature now, some dark as the disease within him, come to life in guitar and words, but soon many beautiful ones in both lyrics and melody of hope; Some just for fun songs, to let his feelings go and create a smile in someone. Rick’s style of Rock, Blues and Folk blend well with the lyrics of his life. --------------------------------------- I met Rick in 2006, two years after my own diagnosis of MS. He was looking for an artist to do work for his first CD, and I was looking for someone to put my art to music. After sending him some images, I decided to send him some poems and lyrics. He set them to music and we quickly realised what kind of magic we had here. We created songs of hope for a disease that tells you there is none…songs of caring and songs of just understanding MS. A year later we have our second CD out called ‘MS Blues’ . This is available to buy on-line at www.cdbaby.com/rickbone, and money from every sale of this CD at $10 goes to help find a cure. I was very proud and honoured when Rick asked me to sing one of his songs on this CD, in addition to writing two of the others. ---------------------------------------- Now we have started our latest project called Broken Feather. Broken Feather is a collaboration of both Rick and myself, and a few others who help us along. We both write for MS, play for MS and sing for MS …and the songs are just getting better and better !
