Bio
It all started in 2004… Guitar strings dripped blood, a drum kit lay black and blue like it’d got on the wrong side of Rocky: Martin Lynch and Jez White knew their furious creativity lacked the cries of a female voice. Just 10 minutes into Emma Sayers’ audition, Martin and Jez knew they had found the missing piece. After a year of preparation, FILTHY CAKE’s debut concert took place on 10th June 2005 in a local rock bar (the kind that no mother would let her daughter sing at). With no idea of the impact they would have, the band members threw themselves into the most incredible, energetic performance, as though their lives depended on it. The people in the audience didn’t know what had hit them, as they became a veritable magma of leaping, roaring bodies, intoxicated by the lasciviousness of FILTHY CAKE. Organising and financing everything from A to Z themselves, FILTHY CAKE has attracted a great deal of media attention, including BBC radio, which has broadcast their tracks and published a positively glowing critique on their website: www.bbc.co.uk/coventry/content/articles/2006/02/16/filthy_cake_pete_feature.shtml In January 2006, FILTHY CAKE created its Myspace page. Just over a year later, the site has been visited 9000 times and the songs featured have been played more than 13000 times! FILTHY CAKE has attracted a considerable amount of international as well as national interest, with record companies and radio stations approaching them daily from as far as New Zealand, USA and Europe. At home too, their success has led to high profile invitations to perform at the infamous Hells Angels’ 20th anniversary Bull Dog Bash and the UK Unsigned competition final at London’s world famous Astoria. Who would believe that you could do without a bass guitar, keyboards, voice effect gimmicks, and still make great Punk/ Rock? Yet that’s exactly what FILTHY CAKE serve up, every time. Now, do you want some FILTHY CAKE?
