‘A Breath of Fresh Air’ – Klaus Voormann
Sam's first studio release, a three track acoustic ep, began life as a demo in 2005 but soon brought Sam to the attention of some of the UK's best live promoters. A UK tour with Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriella embarked Sam on a string of broad reaching supports from I am Kloot at the Islington Academy to Nouvelle Vague at the Pigalle. Recent months have seen Sam opening for Pete Doherty at his landmark sellout RAH show, for Dot Allison at her UK album launch and for Lyle Lovett at the Royal Festival Hall.
Sam's debut single, You May Not Mean to Hurt Me (But You Do) , produced by David Watson, won the 2009 EMA award for Best Folk Song, which Sam again in 2010 with the title track of his upcoming debut album, "One For The Road."
His first LP will be out in the spring featuring some special guest appearances including Kamila Thomson and Neil Cowley. Stay closely tuned at http://www.myspace.com/samsallon
